Dude this is your third thread about this subject. Can't you keep everything in one or two threads?

I don't blaim you for being angry, butters did do an irresponsible thing. He should have removed the buy buttons from his website. I am 100% sure he has had a chance to get on a computer in the past 6 months he has been gone. Butters is a nice guy, just made a very bad mistake. I don't belive he would just take your money.

Here is an idea. GET YOUR MONEY BACK! Clearly he doesn't care even after 5 months or whatever the time frame is. He's all ready working on another project. So get your money back and don't buy from him again till he's more active. If ever.

I've tried to get money back. No luck. This will be the last thread created on lyte:fx. The petition was a suggestion another user gave me.

lol petitions.

Seriously if you want your money back contact him personally. It's not like telling other people about it will help. And he obviously doesn't come here anymore.

Best way is to just come through his front door with a shotgun, and ask him to send the stuff... But make sure you repair the door after that, and that its a fake gun, since he might sue you...

I've got no personal beef with Butters either, but the truth is this has happened before. Everyone can appreciate a mistake, but when it happens multiple times, you start to think "hey, what the hell's going on here?"

It's just hard for me to imagine accepting money for something, then not making it a PRIORITY to keep up my end of the deal.

You hate to see someone get ripped off, and another's reputation damaged in the process....but is there any other way to read this whole thing? Anway, this is last time I chime in on this, hope everything works out ok.

idk to be entirely honest if i was in this situation i would probably just end up trying to pirate it. im not trying to say im a pirater or anything, but imean, if your paypal went 100% through, and you ve already paid him, cant get your money back, he isnt replying to emails, cant get ahold of him. . . i mean since you DID pay him, is pirating it, really considered...pirating it? lol

I agree!
He pirated you of your money...so basically you already bought the product but didnt received it.
So downloading it means that you took some action and you did the job for butters.

I can't believe what I am reading here... All this talk of piracy from a community which jumps down people throats when they THINK somebody has used a stolen texture on a model...

From a community which apparently hates piracy so much they set up their own TGC anti-pirating vigilante group...

For shame people, for shame!

Continue trying till you succeed at getting the product.

I know it may sound stupid but you could report him to the police for stealing as that is what he is doing. I know it may not matter that much but still. He IS stealing.

And if someone else didn't give the paying custormer the product for even a month they would be hated? Just because its butters doesn't exclude him from doing his part of the deal. And butters has done this too often.

...well said, 5867Dude.

Hang in there, until you either get a refund or your product, Jo Jo Monkey.

Technically, you're now getting into that gray area known as mail fraud. Pursue all avenues until the issue is resolved...

Butters is a cool guy, he's contributed with some really inspirational work over the years. But this, I wouldn't expect him to do something like this... I realize that he might be busy and all, but that's no excuse for ignoring someones order for half a year. And I was considering buying Lyte:FX before, but I think I'll pass.

and i personally think, anyone in this situation would pirate a copy of it, idc what you say on the forums. im not implying that anyone is an avid pirater, but in this situation, i know everyone would.

I know you were trying to help and I think it was a good idea... but it has already been made quite clear that people on these forums will be banned for breaking the AUP with regards to this subject... Unless your forum name is Butterfingers!

More importantly, as you pointed out, this may not even be him... If it isn't then some poor guy, who just happens to have the same name, starts getting abusive phone calls about something of which he has no knowledge...

Also, I wouldn't pirate it if I was in the same situation... I have lost money buying things off the internet I use it as a lesson to be more careful in the future... One time was when I had purchased from this person before (multiple times), it was only the last time I didn't get what I paid for... I emailed and asked for my money back, and he replied and flat out said no... He won the paypal dispute so no money back for me... I could download the game I bought from him and crack it but I won't...

it has alot to do with popularity on banning i sware. a mod will probably come in here and tell me im wrong, but ive always thought it was on a favorist level.

edit

That is a realy bad thing.I can't believe that happended in our forum.

Every model producer should keep their promise, especially has received the money .NO excuse. You got money , you got the duty.Send the model to them right now.

suggestion:
1.There should be a rule.Every price in this forum should has a limited level.example: 10$.
2.All the modelers should make a speciall post and promise something. We only choose the modeler we trust to buy from the post. This may be not useful, but it is about honor.

I can understand the issue here.
This in fact damages the reputation and validity of all the people who sell product on this forum, I dont however think that mods are showing favoritism here,it has to be noted that one of those still to recieve their product is a mod, also it has been stated that
Quote: "What we can and will do is make it impossible for him to do so again via these forums.."

So I think its a little unfair to accuse them of protecting butters, as there is little more they can do at this point, if they ban him you have no chance at all of resolving this.

When product is sold via the forums TGC have no control over it whatsoever and advertise it in the newsletter as requested by the seller, they do this in good faith and if it goes wrong cant be held responsible, this sort of thing will put a stop to it for sure and thats a sad thing.
I have had contact with Butterfingers in the past and can only confirm he is notorious for not keeping track of e-mails and such, I dont want to condone or condemn him till he shows up and gives an explanation as he may have a good reason, I just dont know.

I can only add on a personal note that anyone who purchases product from me can expect to recieve it promptly, I think I may have missed only two which were not entirely my fault but on being informed of the error I rectified it immediately, things can and do go wrong when selling online.

True... I didn't get my link for the weather system and emailed Rolfy... Not only did I get a prompt reply with the link I also got another email to check I had received it

Quote: "if they ban him you have no chance at all of resolving this."

I don't know about this... Jo Jo Monkey started his thread before Butters posted his thread about Deadends... I think if Butters' account had already been banned at this stage he would have wondered why... It may have even prompted him to email a mod asking why his account was banned (never having received a ban I don't know if you get an email informing you of the ban, not that he checks his email anyway)...

Quote: "This in fact damages the reputation and validity of all the people who sell product on this forum"

Considering some people are already reluctant to purchase things that are not official, I would imagine that those borderline people who are just not sure about unofficial products may choose not to purchase... Which is a shame as there are some excellent things out there for FPSC users...

LoL! Of course Favoritism happens around here. That's no surprise.

born for game: 1) Have you ever spent weeks modeling something for $10? It should always but up to the modeler. 2) No idea what your talking about.

rolfy:6 months? There are no good reasons for that. Also they made some good points that if it was some no named guy that didn't deliver the product he would have been banned. Sure they may never get the item but there is some justice in that.

Since it seems like nobody understands how to buy things off the internet here are a few tips.

1)Make sure you know that the person delivers promptly.
2)Understand your payment meathod.
3)If your item hasn't arrived in 1 business day. Contact the seller by e-mail.
4)If time gets close to your refund date send another e-mail to notify.(1 week before refund date)
5)Wait 2 business days.
5)Still nothing, report that it was fraud and get your money back.
6)Don't buy from that seller again.

Jo Jo,

I completely understand any action you take to get what is rightfully yours. I was one of the people who continued to push on the nVidia contest thread which eventually ended in good resolution. Had the community not pulled together for the winners to recieve what was supposed to be awarded, they would still be without today, I'm sure.

Try not to let your frustration spread to the mods or other members who had nothing to do with your decision to purchase third party goods. TGC, nor the mods, never sanctioned any transactions but their own. It was always between you and the seller, and should remain so. I hope it doesn't sour your relationship here.

Anyone here who frequents our other third party forums and happens upon Butters could let him know. Keep the faith and best of luck with resolution.

Best.

I e-mailed butters every two weeks after a few initial e-mails. No response after one intial e-mail response in which he said:

(Attached)

I waited and I was duped. no refund either.

As for my mod comment earlier: look, sorry, it just feels like I'm fighting against a brick wall around here.

Well you may be right, I tend to view it as some members having built up a level of trust, but I have to agree the longer this goes on the more likely it may seem that trust has been abused but you still cant take this out on the mods who are willing to give the guy the chance to step up and rectify the problem.
When I posted above I was writing from experience I did have one purchaser who's e-mails simply weren't getting to me,thankfully he was aware his address was problematic with previous online purchases and was understanding that it wasnt at my end.
I was not aware that Jo Jo had in fact recieved a mail stating that he would receive a refund a long time ago and that throws a different light on things.

Their seller contract for the game creators store, which im still reading im on page 7. State's that they are not responsible for any lost or damaged product not issued from them directly. So they can't help you my suggestion is take it up with butter's himself personally in a phone call or in a instant messenger with a headset so you can speak to him and webcam so you can see his facial expression to tell if he's lying. Sorry for my grammer it's 3:27 and im going to bed now, goodnight everyone who it's night time for.*falls asleep*

@rolfy,
Another rare voice of sanity. Thank you.

@Jo jo monkey,
1) I responded to your threat to spam the forums. Nothing more.
2) Phone numbers are against the AUP.
3) Piracy or the encouragement of piracy is against the AUP.
4) We ban him right now, you lose.
5) The thread is locked, how's he going to advertise further?
6) All-caps is blocked because there are people who type messages in all caps, which is bad nettiquete (IT'S CALLED SHOUTING and it's rude), and so against the AUP.

In summary, read the AUP.

Quote: "Favortism and elitism at its best"

Not even going to bother

@Everyone else,
If we ban him now, you lose.
We are following up using other channels.
This will not be consequence free for him.

Now suck it up and get over it for a while. I personally will not post any further updates or respond to posts until there IS an update.
