I noticed that there are a handful of requests lately where the model that the user wants is a couple of threads below them... I, like a good portion of those who respond to those threads, get a little annoyed by this, so I decided to fix it. I'm going through the 81 pages of this board, plus the 30 or so that are in the Chat before the Models and Media area was made and I'm taking out and documenting ALL the free models/media that has been released. I'll be working on this over the summer for personal use if it doesn't have a good reception here, but it's a way for me to learn VB, so I'm taking it. I made it to where it will check for updates, so all you have to do is download it once and I'll figure out the rest.

To-Do List:
Add in all the media
Search Feature
Update Tracker (in program)
Profile Viewer
AutoExtract To FPSC

1.0.0.5 Version: Download (1.08MB)

Attached is the initial release's main page

Update to 1.0.0.2! Download links DO work!
If you download this, and you run it, be sure to get the update by going to Start>Program Files>FPSC Model Browser>FPSC Model Browser. It'll automatically update it self when you do that.

Edit: Download link below

So far, it only has those 3 models, but eventually, it'll have the entire FPSC Models and Media Free library on it...

This is a program where you can (eventually) find every single model/song/media of any kind released for free for FPSC on these boards.

*NEW UPDATE*
Preferences now works. Downloads work. New download category added. New download added.
Run the program from your start menu to update.

Does it search the forums after downloads? Or are you going to manually put every model in that software?

Its a great concept, me like

I'm going to manually enter them so that I know they work. Plus, it's easier to format things when it's manual. (I have a weird way of doing things... I know.)

This is a great idea! Now we don't have to browse the forums for hours to find models, you'll do it for us! Keep it up!

I already have compiled a list of all the free downloads. Now it's a matter of going to each of the pages, finding/taking a screenshot and getting the download link.

Possibly... Or I could just spend that time working on this program...

Let's just say it's not organized...

And yes, it is all of them.

First post updated with the ToDo list as well as a update tracker.

Note: Unless you have the most recent version, delete it, as I changed the update location. The newer version is now in the first post.

Hmm... I like it! Just one thing. You should store all of the things in a text file on your site. Then you can loop through the text file and extract the information. What language is this in, anyway?

This is VB. I'm not sure what you're saying. Could you try and simplify it a bit(remember, this is my first VB program...).

@Everyone else,
The newest update will be released soon. It'll have more content and a splash screen (because I feel like having one, that's why).
\\FIRST TWO SCREENS ARE UPDATED//

@Bloodhound 2,
I'll add in that copyright info, if they have it. And I don't think permission is really a big deal, because all it is is a list of the links to the TGC file server. It's not a hosting of the downloads. (The program would be GB's in size with all the stuff that is on this place... The only real size issue that I'm going to fix is the images. I'm thinking about having them linked to the program instead of downloaded with the program. That'll reduce the filesize by a bunch.)

I've kinda stopped working on this for now, and you'll see why in time...

Maybe.

Ok. That's all I needed. I will continue this project. Expect a new release some time this week. (You can't update from the old version to this release) It'll be much more organized and maybe even a smaller download size.

Check the code snippet in the first post for more details.

Is tjaabee the only person really interested in this? If so, I may just make it but wait to incorporate this into another project. If not, post here and if there are a sufficient amount of posts, I'll go ahead and fix what needs to be fixed and work on getting the database finished.

Thanks man. A couple more posts and I'll be working on this as a separate release from the other project I'm working on (not really related to this).
I just realized that this program will cut down the list of "Can you make this model?" "It's already been made. Search the forums for it."
posts. Yay!

Well, as soon as I get a couple of major bugs fixed, I'll go on an adding spree and add ALL the media. Not just what is submitted. I've already gone through 10 pages of the stuff from 2005. There's a bunch of stuff that people just continually ask for, but never bother to look for...

Thanks guys. I just upgraded to Vista, so it might be a little bit longer than expected for that demo or whatever...

*heads off to go play DX10 games... Gets sidetracked by MGS4 and Battlefield: Bad Company...*

I'll work on this when I get the chance, but since I'm learning the language as I go along, don't expect this to be out for a week or two at best.

*puts Rebellion Fighters on hold(oops that's my secret project)*

*plays COD4 and BF:BC all week*

Well, I might have found a possible way to do this... Give me the rest of the week and I might be able to post up a demo of this. Would you want a demo that updates itself until it gets to the full version, or would you like to wait a bit longer and get the full version?

wait and get the full version as the auto updating usually has problems...but maybe not i'll let you decide but the demo then the full version would be the best in my opinion.

I'm leaning towards demo and then the full version later (autoupdates) myself, because you guys can test it out and report any bugs.
