In the past there was talk about trying to run an external application. I was wondering if anyone managed to figure it out, or is the case closed and it's just impossible?

What do you mean by running an external app. Do you mean have FPSC launch a separate program?

...I'm pretty sure that's what he's asking, gunn3r.

@Uthink,

Unless you were to open the V1.0.7 source and modify it in DarkBASIC Pro, there's no current way for FPSC to directly run an outside application.

Creating a 3rd party app to run and allow the player to open FPSC and compiled game executables is very possible, however...

I would LOVE to have this feature, even if it has nothing to do with creating games.

Then you could use FPSC as a "frontend" for another app. I would love to use FPSC as a frontend for my MAME cabinet. I guess I'll have to finally crack open the source to do this though.

Ah Bond, you are around. Just ignoring my emails! LOL

I'd actually like to spawn open a browser window that went to a website for the game. There would be clues and research material to help you solve puzzles. I'd even love the ability to launch and pass parameters, that way the application/website could know exactly where you were and what you were doing when it was called.

This seems like a simple feature to add. Maybe we can convince Lee!

Yeah, I'm visiting my parents in Ohio this week, posting from their computer. I'll have access to my email tomorrow night when I get home.

Hmmm...And execute app mod Very simple to do even with my less-than-superior darkbasic pro programming knowledge Just got dbpro like 2 weeks ago. Maybe once version 2 source comes out someone or me with my better dbpro knowledge will make it, I will try it now infact XD

I think Empty's Mod had the ability to influence external files via scripting.......

But that would require reverting back to V1.0.......

If you're looking for a frontend to your mame cabinet, gameex is definitely the way to go.
