Here's a last-minute request...
As probably hardly anyone of you know, I've been working on my contribution for the last couple of weeks.
Anyways, here's the deal - the contest is set to expire on friday, but now I unfortunately have to go away for the upcoming days to attend a funeral
To keep it short, I haven't yet quite finished my song, but would really like to do so, given the decent amount of time I've put into it this far.
Therefore, I would appreciate it if the finishing date could be moved forward a few days to, say, August 5:th (I probably won't be back to work on my track until next monday..)

So, if this is ok with you all, I would appreciate it.
(If it is not, I guess I'll try to upload my unfinished track during the friday).

Edit:
@Grandma: Not to worry, I've uploaded your song to the ftp.

Hmm, I understand your situation. Is there anyway for you to work on the song while not attending the calling hours or are you going out of state without a internet connection? If so, I'll have to think about my opinion.

I think it would be fair to postpone the due date for Rudolpho.
Anyone else think so?

Well, thanks guys
I got home early and have been working hard to get this finished as soon as possible.
I eventually decided that I could get a pretty good result even if I left out a not yet entirely thought out part, as well as a repetition of a theme and as of thus I have now got my entry recorded and will upload it straight away.
Unfortunately though, I realised that the "What-U-Hear" recording method does in fact not quite record what one hears... apparently, it seems that some normalisation is added to the recording, and as of thus, certain parts play back at a higher amplitude than intended.
I tried resolving this in all possible ways (which were close to none, since my recorder has pretty much no options besides samplerate and output format), but no luck. I let it be as it is though; I don't want to keep up your time any longer for such a petitesse.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to review everybody's tracks and hope that my delay hasn't caused any chagrin.

I decided not to add the choir into my track... I think it would just clutter it up.

@Rudolpho- Why not "I have a bad habit of not travelling hundreds of kilometers with my trusty 15Kg (desktop) computer tied to my back"? Lol, I like too you get a real work out..., or try to ride a bike 5 miles while carrying 2 large pizza's it's a blast. Sorry, for getting off topic, but I do persoanlly bike ride alot.

I was just saying my opinion btw, and I more importantly wanted the contest leader stating his opinion. As a young man, when my boss sets up a dealine for me, I expect to meet it persoanlly and it increases my resolve.

Best,

@Agent Joe: It tends to do that at times (allthough I haven't had it for that long, so maybe it's just me being incompetent about it).
Just for the record, I used some static "Aah"'s and "Ooh"'s in my track

@Benjamin: Nah, sorry. Had a "music" teacher who taught me "music" for a few years (need I say, replace "music" with "jazz").
Man, one event in spectacular almost drove me out of my boots; there was a free-entrance jazz concert going on not to far from the musical (jazz) education hall. Our jazzfreak foir teacher decided that instead of having our standard music (jazz) theory class, the class should attend that event instead.
So, for about three hours, I listened to a "small" big band (I think it were only eight or so people) harass their instruments in what was apparently nothing but constant improvisation (what I meant to say was, it was all the same song... seemingly at least; you couldn't really tell since nothing was ever heard twice).
Also, I could add that the guys playing looked so hilariously satisfied the whole time...

Well, after finally escaping the concert (oh no, it didn't nearly end after just three hours) I had got enough jazz until today
(And yes, I still had to go through two and a half more years with that jazzy cat's jazz theory classes.

@Gargoyle: Whoa, I sense that you're actually quite pissed by your last sentences?
Well, allthough I may actually not be known as the best at keeping deadlines (most of the time I get done in time, but just barely after doing most of the work in the last few days), but seriously, how could I have anticipated this?
The demise hadn't even happened (and frankly, wasn't expected either) when the contest began, so I had no idea to predict this.
Sure, I could perhaps have gotten it done a week before the ending time, but as I just explained, I tend to get things done in the last moment. Moreover, my way of writing music is by inspiration, a thing you can hardly force, so I doubt I could have gotten very far with the track, even should I have brought "work" down there.
I guess I'll conclude my explanation there...

On the matter of riding with things, I'm quite used to that as well. For instance, I've been riding my trusty Zündapp back in the days with a complete set of a table and four chairs tied to the gas tank (and myself) as well as driving a few miles with a 6 foot long mortar (the fireworks kind, not a weapon)
This time, however, I travelled with my mother and grandmother (no, not the norweigan guy) in a quite small car. We also needed room to bring some stuff back home, so even shouldn't the earlier reasons have applied, I wouldn't have been able to.

And as you said,
Quote: "...wanted the contest leader stating his opinion."

Apparently, he decided to postpone the deadline. If he wouldn't had, I would of course have accepted that (as I think I said in my earlier post).

Maybe it's me who sounds pissed this time *laughs*
I just thought that I should explain this in better detail though, since I didn't like (my imagination of) your tone at the "when I get a deadline, I intend to meet it" part.

Anyways, no hard feelings and my track is already done, so everything should be fine

Number 7, I liked it, very good stuff - a lot of effort has gone into it.

I like track 10 very much; genuine RPG soundtrack.
Even though it gets pretty melodical in the last half, I still think that it could have evolved into something grander though, but it scores a close second place in my opinion.

So, deux points va à le chanson cinque, des élan suédoiss.
I must say that it sounded very... "real".
Also, that recorder lead and the ocassional xylophone hits (I think it was that) made this a very different entry (if we ignore the singing).
The song would however have done good to have a break or something, but I still think it works. Well mixed too, I must say.
So, I hereby vote for track 5.

(But I should say that I'm fond of synth reggae too )

I have already posted that I would like #7 as first... but for 2nd and third place... For second I would say #10 and I agree with Rudolpho that it could have been something even greater. Track 5 would be 3rd place due to it's mixing and construction... though to me it doesn't exactly sound like game music, I still like it.

Well, by all means, no, it cannot be classified as game music.
But then, in my opinion, only about half of the entries can
Should I pick from that category only, I would definitively vote for track 10.

So anyways, what happened, did this thread just die in silence?

No, but seriously, I agree with Joe, what the heck happened?
Of course, I think all contestants but SMD3D_Interactive and the contest starter himself has already voted, and I guess we can't count with too many "outsiders" to vote, unfortunate as that is.
But still... I had expected at least somewhat greater activity here.

Sorry that I have been real busy. The prizes are real and I am back around. Here are the prizes again:

1st Prize
Track will be featured in the game Kill The Booey that we will be releasing at the beginning of August. This will be a downloaded game at killthebooey.com and got the OK from the Howard Stern Show to release the game. You will play as the character Sal the stockbroker running around killing the The Ba Ba Booey. The game will have a plug on the show so your track will get over 1,000,000 views. The game will also feature music from Raymond Herrera's Project called ARKAEA. You can check them out here:

2nd Prize:
Model Pack with 50 Segments to use for FPSC and FPSX10

3rd Prize:
Web Hosting for FREE for 1 Year!

Quote: "Haha, he took our songs and laughed all the way to Serbia. Selling them on the black market for own profit."

Sorry guys, just got back from Serbia selling the songs. I had to find a way to make some money... Yea right.

Anyway I vote for track # 5 for first place... It is a toss up for 2nd and 3rd and will take a closer listen and cast my vote.

All good. Me going there was too...

I am here to stay and hope I can provide some stuff to this community. I work in the metal industry so all of my stuff will be heavy and fast. But next I am taking all of the old game 8 bit sound effects and put together of an album playing the sounds of the music with the guitars metal style while adding the real sounds of the game. Should be fun...

The prizes I just tossed together and thought it might be fun. They are real and will happen for sure.
