First, you do not need to bump a one hour old thread because that just makes people mad.

Second, I cant figure out what your trying to ask, put up a screen shot of what you are trying to do, or give more information.

Make sure that the view is set to show a texture mode and not to wire frame. You won't see the faces in wire frame mode but it is good for finding the points that are harder to click on without the visual. If you are working in one of the filled mode you hay have to increase the threshold value of the face tool to make it easier to select the point (vert) as you can not see them sometimes if it is a tight corner of a face/triangle.

Select you verts in a counter clockwise direction. and make sure that the Face button is selected. I doubt I covered your problem, but hey; I might get lucky.

(edited to try and look a little smarter. I hope it is working.)

You have two points in the same place. That will give you that message. You have to delete all three points and start over since it will be impossible to tell which location has two points together.

I tried it in Milkshape and I get the same message; so I am pretty sure that is what happened.

Good luck.
Don

[Edit]
Ignore backfaces will not help here because the two points are at the same depth.

What I do is click the VERTEX button, place the 3 verticies, then click the FACE button, and then click the 3 verticies in the right order, and no problem. I don't think you use the SELECT button at all for creating faces.

You can do it that way but you must only loop (select) three vertices, or you will receive the same message as is displayed here. There is a menu option that will create a face using the selected verts in Milkshape.

I would have sworn that this was the cause of the problem based on the screen shot. Just be careful to not create more than a single vertice (click) at a point or you will have this problem.

I create my faces the same way, by selecting the verts one by one with the face button selected.
