I am using color object 1,rgb(255,0,0) to try to make a fluid red color. but this does not seem to work.

is it possible to color fluids any way you like or do they just stay the standard blue color?

They stay blue, the same visual size, the same collision size etc. You actually wanted fluids that are useful and work well outside of applications that aren't the two fluid examples? What were you thinking . [/sarcasm]

so i wasted a week making media for the comeptition and now when I want to put in upscaling and use different coloured fluids i find out that i can't.

so my question is: why make a fluid category in the first place?

@ bjadams: Maybe so that we are trying out every little bit and then send them our problems, so they know what they can change/do for the next update? (It would be a bit unfair to say this, but somehow it looks this way!)

Who knows, we had the same problem during the last PhysX compo, I don't think anyone's entries used fluids because they simply weren't usable outside of a very basic.. falling on a box demo. At least back then we could change the colours and what not, but it was prone to crashing and was far slower than it is now, wait 'till you get to turning the emitter's emit direction around , or getting the emitter to not stop after a while.

water is always the hardest thing to simulate. I went to school for visual effects and it took my machine two whole days just to render water. using real flow and 3d studio max. I can't imaging trying to do realistic water in real time.

Stick with it. NVIDIA are putting the winners in their demo pack, so they will make sure they look as good as possible, and will help out in that respect further down the line.

Since DP is just an extension of the PhysX SDK, I think you would have to change the way the fluid looks in default by going into the NxFluid.h (which is an SDK file) file and changing it.
