Staircase! The Ultimate Addicting Arcade Game


About Staircase!
In Staircase! there is a guy on the top of a
staircase (of course) trying to kill you with
stuff he throws at you. You must make it up the stairs
crouching down to avoid the objects and fight him in
the end.

It was OK, the one thing I found was that you just had to duck and nothing hit you, even if it went right through you

Second of all, in the fight, I just held down spacebar and won. I would add more moves, so that it is actually challenging.

I would also change the models, they are really quit.... Basic.

I think it still has a bit of work to do (definetly get that first bug FIXED with the flickering, it was REALLy anoying.) I think that if you keep at it, it will be a pretty cool addicting game.

aye, the flashing on every other step almost gave me a seizure too. =) Beat the game though. The boss isn't too hard as long as you hold the spacebar -- that way he doesn't even get a chance to attack.

Not bad for a start. Cartoony graphics are funny.

Bugs:
When crouching on the higher stairs, flying objects pass through your head and you are not harmed.

When you get to the fight... you can hold down space and totally pwn the guy.

Of course, moving up the steps should be programmed a little differently, or make the click space for the stairs larger... maybe with an animation mouse click cursor thing where you should click next.

Advice:
Make a jump option, so when your on the higher stairs and the flying object are right there in your face, closer to your feet, and crouching wouldn't avoid them, you can jump over them

Well I am trying to improve the AI and thanks fore the criticism and the flickering I will figure out, and I know about the crouch and space thing, I am working on it as well.

Otherwords,

Thanks for the uplifting comments, constructive criticism, and improvements that could be made to the game.

I am also making it to where when you complete a boss battle you unlock weapons such as, guns, jetpacks, bazookas, bombs, etc.

I think it was fun. But like everyone above me said, the flashing drove me nuts.

As for the unlocking newer weapons, I think that is a cool idea. Can't wait to see how you do that.

Wow this is fun! I made it to the end (admittedly on my third attempt )

On a minor point, the first time you jump you can press the spacebar again and the character will rise even higher until a max height is reached (the height of the last step, I think) and then on the way down, holding the space bar will freeze the characters y-coord. For all other jumps (as far as I can tell) pressing/holding the spacebar will make the character go up and then come down.

I really enjoyed that, can't wait for some more levels!

Fixed the invincible crouch and jump bug and sped up the bombs (now it is extremely hard! I had to make it skip level 1 just so I could work on the fight!). Working on some jump issues.

Hold space till you fly high, then, while falling, click on the next layer, and immediately crouch. Pretty cool, makes it easy to win

I can't even get to Chuck Norris! The best I've been able to manage is the next to last stair, and then I get deaded by the flying bombs. But I keep trying...
(I'll have to have another crack at it and try out tha_rami's hint )

Oh, could I suggest - would it be possible to have a "New Game" screen? It's just that after my 10th attempt on the stairs it did start to get a little iritating having to restart the program each time.

Also, I've noticed there's an avi in the media, but it never plays when I start the program?

If I admit that I'm lying, am I telling the truth?
