i am making pong and when the ball hits the bat it does bounce only after sliding on it and then bouncing of the edge.

for example if the ball hits the middle of the bat, the ball will slide on the bat and then when it gets to the edge of the bat it bounces back of again. can someone help, i really am puzzled as to why this happens.
