hey i replied to a post made by HZence about tile engines, but just incase nobody has a look at his post and is curious about how to do a tile engine here is mine

http://www.geocities.com/shwuckie/PxP.jpg

right click on that link and choose SAVE AS and rename it to PXP.ZIP
(stupid yahoo doesnt allow zip files!!!) extract it into a folder and compile, altho in likelihood you will need to delete the .dbpro file and create a new project file for it.

ok so heres the deal, its set to run @ 640*480 and it features:

8 directional pixel scrolling (use the cursor keys)
collision detection
multi-layered maps
animated tiles

so i hope ya benefit from it! ummm if ya use it or modify it for ya own projects... dont forget to credit me!!!!!!!!!

oh and dont use the grafix that are supplied for ya own proggies, cause i just ripped those from here n there , so it looked good
(i cant draw hehe)

muwhahahahaha!

i used my own map editor, its pretty rough cause i only slapped it together to design a map, i know how it works so its not documented properly, it is functional tho, ya dont have to paint one tile at a time (but ya can if ya have too) and you can flood fill or lay a group down at once (like the tree for instance)

if anybody is interested, i might post the editor too

If you've got Mappy, (and you have VC), you can export GBA data and use my DLL to deal with the tiles (ie reading/writing data etc).

Good news everyone! I really am THAT good...
