HI,
I've got DBC at the moment, I've had it for ove half a year now, and have made quite a few games - one 'main' game and also a program, and am now considering getting DBP, as I shortly will be starting on a new game, and might use DBP to make it.
Basically, what I want to know is:
-Is the coding pretty similar to DBC code - i mean most of the commands are the same aren't they? Will it be quick and easy to learn new commands etc.
-What is it like in terms of graphics and speed compared to DBC - is there a huge increase?

Thanks
Robin

There is a huge increase graphics wise, & I belive there is another huge increase speed wise (not sure on this one though.)

Most codes should work in DBPro from DBClassic, so the transition wont be too hard. I started with DBPro, not classic, so I dont know what all is different, but from what I have heard, its not much (camera commands (not sure) & a few other obsolete codes.)

If you know most of DBClassic, you should have no problem with Pro.

my copy of pro should be here tommorow or the next day and in the mean time i've been using the demo, the speed increase is phenomenal(sp?)compared to dbc the whole range of new commands are daunting at first but you soon get used it, my personal favourite thing i have discovered is the
control camera with arrowkeys() command, that put a smile on my face

***Ordered Dbpro today(friday 11th)****

But beware - the demo is rather buggy, and doesn't have the highlighting...

Good news everyone! I really am THAT good...

I thought that was a fairly useless command, I mean, it basically just converts to:

Hi, I too am thinking about getting DB Pro. Someone on one of these forums mentioned a site called realgametools which offers CharacterFX with DB Pro.

I plan on ordering from them instead of the DB site itself- does anyone know if this is a reliable site to order from and is it DB endorsed?

RGT (real game tools, http://www.realgametools.com) is the american sister site to of DB. It's as reliable as this one is, but I think they had a problem with orders, and are a bit backlogged, but I don't know. The only difference really is getting character FX or not. I've never used it so I can't tell you if it's good or not.

CharacterFX is the best way to create boned animation for DBP as it rquires a LOT of messing around to get Max or anything else to work and that's if you're lucky.

Moving from DBC to DBPRO, it is not exactly a few minutes job...

I have to admit that I havent put too many hours behind it but my DBC code didnt exactly work when opened and executed in DBPRO...

As I said, I probably need to reverse engineer (!?!?!?) my DBC code and redesign it for DBPro. Which is fair enough...

I mean I always wanted to organise my code in a project. Check
Get my code more structured. Check
Get my variables declaired. Check
Keep versions
Keep a log and a to do list
use a better prog environemt. all check!

I mean DBPro might not be childs play but at least forces you to adopt proper techniques and tactics

True?

hmmm...if i'd get DBP then i'd get it off amazon for £50.00 as that would be £20.00 cheaper...

you don't have to use wrapvalue() for the turn camera command...

what new commands etc. are included in DBP that aren't in DBC?

Robin
