Hey guys, I have a question. I DID THE SEARCH! I DID THE SEARCH! But still found nothing on this so here goes. I beem working on my own blood splatter design for my game as well as some writing and little bloody footprints. A drag mark as well. Anyway, I have made them but I can't find any tut's on turing the pictures into overlays. And once I make them into overlays can they be put on the walls and on the ceiling and such? Someone let me know yeah? I may have missed the tut and if I have then I apologise for cluttering the board.

download firma v2 or an older version of signs (or buy the new one) and with a couple clicks in that, and you'll have a fpsc ready overlay. yes they can be put on walls and such, but its hard to do, becuase overlays are on a flat plane, so when you turn them, its hard to see them

Alright maybe not. Because I have x10 firma doesn't work and signs is fifteen dollar which I am not willing to pay because I have already spent too much on this program that doesn't work half the time.

Np, find all the needed files for any (1) overlay in the stock x10 media. now copy all of these files. now in the .fpe there should be a line something like texture=blah blah blah. Replace that texture name with the texture you have. rename anything neccessary and place it back into the overlays(with new texture instead of old). and you should have a new overlay. make sure to change names so it doesnt paste ontop of the old overlay. And if the icon is the same, its easy to change, swap the 64x64img with your own. im sorry if this doesnt come off clear to you... but ive been awake for 26 hours now...

Alright, Bloodeath mate, you're a star. I did it, got it in the game with only a couple of issues I hope you can tell me how to work out. One, I'm getting the white background from the picture and I want that see through so all you get is the print. Two is the size, it's huge, I need it smaller. I've added a photo for you to see what it up.

aye... alright, maybe this will help.... in your image you have for the texture...is it .dds? if so make sure you have the image set to 0 0 0 black around the hand...(fpsc reads 000black as transparent.) or if you have like photoshop when your making the texture just slap it on a transparent layer and save it as .png or .tga and it SHOULD still read the transparency. as for the size... i dont own x10 so it may be slightly different from what i say...but in the fpe... there should be some kind of line like...
scale = 100
and the lower that is the lower it will scale the size of the overlay...so you can play around with that...

edit-
oh and when you have the overlay in the game, right click the entity and look for a line that says transparency, and make sure thats set to 4

Alright, it is in DDS as I used paint.net to make it so. I set the background to 000Black and then did another hand just to see how it worked and I got a red hand on a black background. I don't have photoshop but I do have Paint.net and it allows for trans layers so I'll give that a shot. The size is still an issue. in the fpe file I set the scale to fifty... it's easier if I put a picture in

Some advise, would be to scrap this image and start again from scratch using layers using a 512x512 image size but create the bloodsplat smaller from the start which will give you less problems if you have to resize it at all. It's a bummer but its sometimes best to start anew.
NOTE- Also keep the blood image in the centre of your file and away from the files edges because this will leave your final image with a straight cut line which dosn't look so good.

I know there is a program called 'Gimp' which is Free which you may wish to check out.

All the best of luck
