long story short, nikydude mentioned something called an FPI writer in his "hints and tips guide to FPSC" so at the risk of gitting flamed I must ask: where can I get this fabled "fpi writer"? please help.

Use Notepad, and follow this tut......except when you write .fpi write .fpe instead......
