Yep, you heard right. Caligari is now giving away their flagship program for nothing (also including all training videos)! Check out this thread on their Forums for more detail:

EDIT:

I went to the direct download link, which ends in .aspx (I forget the URL) and it says that I cannot have access to the page, so I will continue to look for a mirror of some sort.

It's now on the blog instead:

This is great news, TrueSpace 5.2 was a program I had a long time ago and stopped using it due to bugs, but now having the latest free (which no doubt has cleared up those bugs) I can see being a benefit to modellers, especially as TrueSpace has some of the exporters people need.

I received the email from Caligari this morning as well

It sure is more complicated/robust than Gamespace is

All the free $79 video tutorials/help are worth their weight in gold also when using a product this complex.

Hey guys. I been using truespace a long time. This new release has x exporter so you can use the models in games. I already put some new animated models in my fpsc game with it. But the export directly from ts will not show textures correctly in your game I found, I havent tested with db pro yet but fpsc you need to run it through ultimate unwrap 3d or fragmotion for it to display textures right. You dont have to reapply the textures or anything, they show right in these intermediate apps, just open and resave to directx again.

I just wanted to let people you can use ts for your game creation. It is very a very good app.
