He wants to open the *.dds image file... I think GIMP has a plugin to open it.

Yes, there is a dds plugin for PhotoShop7. I use it. Find it here.

Irfanview is highly recommended, as is Paint.NET which can also save in .dds format.

a common word used by people who are shouting at a idiot or someone who is new and is... a idiot...

by read we mean the computer reads it then visualy displays it onscreen, back with dos we couldnt do this cuz dos is all font and crap, I should know when I decided to re-format my hd to get rid of a partrition on the hd so I got more room, although I got a 500bgt hd already...

You can use the Online Image Converter.
Just import the .dds file and convert into .tga format.

You'll have to type in your email.

When you're finished just convert it back into .dds format.
