Well, I seem to have remembered one of my old game ideas (from 4th grade,) I will lay out what I remember now.
The game is pretty simple, a first person shooter like half life (exact same controls.) In place of humans & aliens, you have giant robots (like gundams) called Guards.
The setting for this game, is post apocolyptic, with almost every city in ruins, & only about 1 million people surviving the nuclear war.
2 sides have formed, the NOF & the HMMG. The NOF are similar to the Zeon in Gundam, & the HMMG similar to the EFF. (I know, sounds like a gundam clone thus far x-d.)
Both sides are fighting for control of the remaining earths surface (not much remains anymore due to global warming from the nuclear war.) the NOF controls Europe, Africa, half of Asia, & the middle east, while the HMMG control both america's, Austrailia, the other half of Asia, & most of the islands.
You start out at the bottom rank, & must work your way up to the top rank (either Supreme Commander (NOF) or General (HMMG)) by doing missions & winning at the neutral arena to get armor, weapons, & other items for your side.
The Guards themselves may not look much different than mobile suite, but they will have conversion parts. Most conversion parts will have an elemental attribute. Each doing 2x the normal damage or .5 the normal damage to the target/health.
Each item will have different rarities, with Dark & light being some of the rarest. Different weapons would be availible, if you find them, if its a ballistic, the ammo would be the elemental property (Ice would shoot out ice shards while fire would shoot out magma pellets,) & if its an energy weapon, it will do elemental damage plus the energy beam (an ice weapon would have a chance of freezing the enemy.)
The story line that I was working out for it, is too long to post online, so I wont post it until I get the site up, depending on the response I get here. I was orriginaly planning to make this a live action TV show (with 3d models for the Guards.)
Anyway, for those who havnt seen gundam, a Guard would be a 4 story tall humanoid robot, that can walk & move like a human. The Guard pilots chamber, would be similar to that on G Gundam (if the player punches, the guard would punch, kind of like VR.)
I was planning for events to lead up to the NOF to try & start a second nuclear war, while the HMMG try to prevent it.
What do you all think, would this make a pretty good FPS? I wanted to include location based damage & a targetting system, that would turn off if the head was shot. I also wanted to have it so that if the limb was hit, the arm/leg/head would fall off & if there is a weapon attached to it, it would fall too, until you move your crosshairs over your fallen arm, hold down the E button until a bar finishes, then the gun will appear in the other arm, while the player drops the shield.
I do plan to not use a targetting system for limbs, so it takes more skill to hit one, than it would an armor part, as it can have devistating effects.
