ive been using ac3d which i know like the back of my hand but
i recently procured 3ds max from school, and am pretty new at it, so of course am buying tuts, untill then can some one tell mne how to apply textures, i have googled it but with no avail well nothing that i can understand lol

heres what i made in ac3d, since i used to use pov ray it could only use 1-2 textures lol so i ahve been importing into 3ds max to render, it worked perfectly at first but since i textureed the artilery cannon no of them will load

i have put the texts in the same folder shortened the names to 3 letters

help would be great since i need to finish but the 10th

note thats not the proper tex for cannon in render

Hit the 'M' button to open the material editor. Then click on any one of the grey spheres. Next to the 'Diffuse' color box there should be a little grey square. it will open another window, click on the 'bitmap' option. Find your texture and open it. Then drag that onto your object. It will still be grey, to fix that click on a checkered square (hover over it and it will say 'Show Map in Viewport'. Then the texture will show.

u have to select your object and then go to the modify panel and apply a uv mapping modifier. you will have to do that for everyobject in your scene. also in the material editor, u should click on the maps . and when all of the options roll out try playing with thm. ( specular, gloss, bump, and reflection)

Perhaps you didn't include the textures for the objects missing textures? Try manually re-applying the material from the material editor.

the render specifics are saved in the .max file when you save the scene.
