Ok, since Milkshape's been getting alot more fidgety and buggy as I try to get it to at least export .X files, I decided to try out a different software.....

Since I'm currently skint, I only really had a choice between the 2 free modellors, Anim8or and Blender. Anim8or's ok, but it feels very limited in what it can do as yet, and is still officially a beta program. Blender, on the other hand, is powerful and good at renders, but I hated the UI the first time round......

Anyway, I persisted with Blender, and after a good 10-15 minutes, I had a nice collection of models in a display render. I did this completely without tutorials and I'm quite chuffed with myself for getting this far, I'm gonna add onto it with other desktop appiances, PCs, the desk itself, etc, etc......

Anyway, monologue over, here's the render, please rate it on quality, I think it's a bit too high poly for game models, but I'll release the blend file if anyone wants it:

Didn't everyone start with super high poly counts? I know I did with my busty tractor robot girl.
I reckon sticking with it when you might want to quit is a pretty good test of character - I gave up and had a tantrum.

If you didn't already know, a couple of tips:
Use the ctrl key when you're transforming something to snap the steps, for better control, use shift for even finer control.
constrain a transformation using the x, y or z keys.

I wish I knew what I were doing!

Also, if you want somewhat nicer renders, I suggest applying some sort of texture to them and create a simple 3 light setup with a base plane. And maybe turning on AO.

Looking good so far

Thanks, I'm gonna sort out the textures once I get the scene set up....

-=EDIT=-

I've added a desk for them to sit on now, I think I'll just add a light, some paper, and a PC tower, then I'll be happy to start texturing..... ;D

Ok, I fixed the pens smart-alec....

I've added a (pretty badly done) PC tower to the setup, it's ok, I'm unsure what other detail I could add on though......

The update is a nice improvement, good work

Try rendering with Ambient Occlusion on (In the world settings), it makes things look nicer :p
