NOTE: Going through a title change. Didn't realize there was already a game called Dead Space. If anyone can think of a title, I'd like to hear your suggestion.

Quote: "You are Brian Graves, former lieutenant for the Allied Galactic Navy. After being dishonorably discharged due to war crimes you did not commit, you're being held at a remote government location awaiting trial. But, no one was prepared for an all-out attack on the facility by space pirates. You cease the opportunity and make your escape. Now it's time to prove your innocence to the government that wronged you, all while avoiding death at the hands of the space pirates. But, as Lt. Graves soon finds out, all isn't as it appears..."

After learning the ins and outs of FPSC over the past while, I've decided to finally start work on my first game. I'm still hammering out the details of the story, but I have the concept down, as well as a few maps designed and ready to be made.

I'm terrible at modeling and texturing, so as of right now, custom media is out of the question. I'll be borrowing heavily from Model Packs 9, 10 and 12, as well as using things found on FPS Free. I'm not aiming for a ton of detail--for me, it's all about the gameplay, and I want it to run at a decent framerate, even on low-end machines like mine.

Below are the title screen and work-in-progress screenshots. Tell me what you think.

Cover art is awesome. But I'd add some more entities...

Why rip off the title of an announced and soon to be launched AAA game from EA: http://deadspace.ea.com/agegate.aspx?returnURL=/Default.aspx

Be a bit more creative, please.

It doesn't need to many more entities, just put a few things on the counters. A game doesn't need to be crowded, so right now it is perfect except for the counters.

Thanks for the positive feedback thus far, guys. I'm in the process of adding more items to the shelves so they don't look so plain. I'm also gathering non-copyrighted textures to possibly use later. I should also have the story outline posted today.

... Dude, I haven't even HEARD of that game until now. And I thought I was scraping the bottom of the barrel for names, too. :/ Guess I'll have to come up with a new title. Thanks for letting me know about this.

Added story details to the first post.

I've also decided to redo the game a bit so it's using less default FPSC media.

Looks great, excellent lighting techniques, I'll dl the demo ASAP! The name however is a game from EA called Dead Space too, but you can change it with ease I presume. Keep up the good work on it!

NAMES: I have some:
Infiltration 956
Oracle of the Polarity :/
Dark Futures

Hmm, I like that, but someone may find out and say it's a theft of name (probably 'cause they have no brain )

It's not a theft of name because there are no games called "Atrum Tractus". It's a latin name and you can't claim that it's theft as it isn't in English.

Atram Tractus is pretty cool, actually. I think I might go with that.

Haven't had much time to work on it--partially due to some computer troubles. Should have an update on the progress soon--maybe a video.

Yeah, been having a lot of trouble with FPSC. Had to reinstall. Also got a 360 and CoD4, so I've been preoccupied.

Work should commence soon.

The real Latin for Dead Space is Mortuus Tractus. I actually think Atrum Tractus works, though.

The "EA Dead Space" is itself a rip-off in terms of story & atmosphere, take a look at "Event Horizon" and you know what I mean...

Having followed Dead Space from EA quite closely I would say that the only real connection to Event Horizon is the setting on a space ship. Backstory and the actual game story is widely different even though both stories have something "evil" in them.

"Sci-fi on a spaceship" does not make it similar.

Allright, the story may have something unique on it, but what I`m talking about is the atmosphere, the "look & Feel".
