Does anyone know where I can get programs that allow me to make my own models and sounds from scratch?

i personally recommend...
wings 3d because its a free easy to use 3d modeler that can do a variety of quality meshes and has a built in UV mapper.
paint.net because its also a freeware program that is also easy to use and can do a variety of things and is excellent to pair up with MS paint and make quality UV maps.

hope i helped

if you can afford a mayor package, 3ds max or cinema 4d suit you well, where cinema is a bit easier on beginners, but has a bunch of cool features, it even comes with a paint module to directly paint on your 3d models.
if you do not want to spend a lot and you're not afraid of tweaking things a bit, i recommend you get some free apps (sketchup, blacksmith 3d paint) and some low budget (milkshape, fragmotion) and then get entity workshop (most reccomended).
Best to start with the free stuff and try to make something like a crate or a table actually work in fpscreator before you put out a little fortune to no avail...

I am Jacks complete lack of surprise.

I miss the days when people asked a question such as
Quote: "Thanks. Now another question, where do I get this stuff."

people would respond with the correct answer, http://www.google.com/
Those were the good ol' days.

I personally recommend Softimage|XSI Mod Tool its free to download and use, slightly limited, but is brilliant. you can find it here http://www.softimage.com/downloads/XSI_Mod_Tool/default.aspx

The information that you are required to fill in is just feedback for them, its not overly important. Just a little information Softimage|XSI, was used to help create the film Happy Feet, and is being used/was used to create the Hulk in "The Incredible Hulk" and many more films requiring CGI Oh and used to help create things in Halo Wars
