I am a wonderful business dealer! I've gotten the following software packages from companies cause I made deals with them.
1. DarkBASIC Classic $50US
2. AC3D $50US
3. Multimedia Fusion $99US

This is all within the last few months.

Thankyou. I would tell you how I got the software for free, but I don't want to. And I DIDN'T get it illegally.

I'll tell you how he did it. He emailed me constantly (read lots and lots of times) and hassled me endlessly on Messenger to the point where I blocked his account.

In the end we swapped a free copy of DB Electronic (not the boxed version, no printed manual, not DBPro - but the version we're giving away free to everyone who enters the Retro Remakes compo) in exchange for him having written a newbies tutorial which we eventually decided not to use (although we did take parts of it for the new web site).

Since then I've received various similar messages about offering to run classes, write more tutorials (about software unowned!) etc to the point where I've got a standard reply template set-up in my mail client now.

So maybe it's true, you could probably hassle a free copy of DB Electronic out of us if you spam us enough (that's NOT an invitation to do so!) and write a tutorial for us. But amusingly DB was "too complicated" and I received several further emails asking for the Beginners Guide book (all denied).

If that's "a wonderful business dealer" then I'm Donald Trump.

Sorry David - you started this by posting here. I'm setting the record straight.

Cheers,

Rich

The first step is ADMITTNG it, the next thing you know Rich is on your back and police are at your door.

Wunder why there isn't a cracked version? eh? Its because DarkBASIC LImited has set up such a good system that whenever somebody did, they sued them like hell. They have the sharpest punishments under any governments.

[Edit] See? Rich is already here...

Plenty a time that feature has come in handy

So 'DB Electronic' is basically a downloadable licensed version of DarkBASIC? Which version though?

You'd have to PAY ME to get me to use jamagic.

Only popular software appears on Kazaa, DBP isn't big enough. Of course, honest people actually buy their own (however when I saw the price for the pro edition of Delphi which I brought recently it was soooo tempting to K-L it. (except that I needed the printed manual) )

@Database

Don't abuse the fact that you can actually contact the staff at TGC - its refreshing to actually get a quick response from a company for a change - something I don't want to change.

I know of a p2p app that contains several DBP downloads although I'm not going to say it here because someone like Geri will probably go download it.

You want me to publically post the time-scales you consider as "never replying" ?

(we're talking MINUTES sometimes here guys )

Reminds me of the newbie forum.

"Can you answer this question?"
-5 mins later-
"Does anyone know?"
-2 mins later-
"Please answer me"
-30 seconds later-
"PLEASE!"

Also reminds me of that customer...

[Tuesday Morning]

Customer: "Hey! - Why haven't I got DBPro yet. This is disgraceful, I paid for it with hard earned cash."

Rich: "You ordered on a Friday before a bank holiday weekend."

hehe - I sometimes notice that. It's quite funny to see someone post at 3, then at 5, then at 7. While I'm sitting there at work, browsing the forums and replying to the odd thread, I'm like, "hey, some of work all day"....

I've gotten the following software packages from companies cause I made deals with them.
So what did Rich get out of this? Aside from some peace and quiet ..

Sigh! - It results from Microsoft's software production system:

1. Identify the need for a product
2. Make the product
3. Release the product
4. Test the product
5. Design the product
6. Release a sensible version 5 years later.

DX is SOOOOO messy, and most professional peps that I have managed to chat to have agreed. Hence the reason why OpenGL is so popular with many people.

Are we not easily 5 years into DX's life now? Which according to your list means we've now got DX in a very good state

Rich
