Can I use Half Life 2 bsp files in Dark GDK and if so, how do I do that?
I bought the orange box, so I have half life 2 and the hammer editor, but when I try to make a bsp file and use it in Dark GDK, it says "Unhandled exception at 0x00000000 in Game Level.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000."

BSP support has long been broken, which is unfortunate because it's an advertised feature of DarkBASIC Pro that people pay for, that doesn't work.

You have to use Half-Life 1 style BSP files, also. Newer ones made with the orange box toolchain don't work correctly.

So basicly to make a map you have to go back to the old hammer editor and make the map in that.
here's a link for it.(I know, it says counter strike, but they both used the same engine)
http://www.fpsbanana.com/tools/109
(and maybe this'll help too(bsp decompiler, drag thr BSP onto the exe.): http://www.fpsbanana.com/tools/66
meaning you cant use source sdk.

I can't get the old Hammer to work because I don't own Half Life 1 and don't have the WAD file and other files I need.

If you know how to fix this, or if you know of another free map editor, please let me know.

Quake 3 BSP files should work, and 1 and 2 will certainly. As for 4, I don't think so.

If you're looking for a BSP map editor, you might want to look into either 3D World Studio or Quark. GarageGames also has a BSP editor that's been released for free called Constructor.
