i've got publishing deals... and a few others i know do.
its not simple but its easier than trying to make the bloody proggie in the first place

if you have any questions then feel free to ask, and remember than FMTau Labs is Production company - which means they're pretty good to be a middle man in dealing with publishers.

I'm considering it, but I haven't tried to get one before.

I'm in the process of registering a business name and setting up my own company so I can legally sell any products I make. There's a lot of good CD Duplication companies that can knock out a professional product for as little as £2 a copy including all boxing manuals and CD graphics etc. Then once you're set up as a sole trader or some other form of registered business and registered on all the government sectors like the IRS etc. you can sell your CDs, and reap max profits.

Downside is you need to invest time, effort, and a fair bit of money. Also you don't get the coverage of a professional company releasing your game.

Upside is you get all the profits rather than a teeny little cut, and anyone can do it, where as the chances of you getting a publisher to release your game is very very slim.

If you want to set up your own business, go to your governments website and there should be plenty of info there for you. Just takes a lot of reading.

fubar stands for.Oh yeah, right, not appropreite.(heheh, I think I learned it from Saving Private Ryan or something.)

Anyway, yea, I'm pursuing a publishing deal.I havn't asked anyone or talked with anyone about publishing my games. For I have not much to showcase.Once I finish a couple of my applications, and a game or two I'll start thinking about publihsing.

First you should think about registering a business name.Like Fallout said though, get lots of information, and know what your getting into.

Yellow:Wanna publish my game microsoft, cuz i no u rich so...Can I have my bag of money now?
Microsoft: *snicker* Tip of the month-Microsoft will never(probebly) publish your game.

i don't have a question i wanted to see who else was doing this...

i am going the true R/D way...

get a publishing deal, and use them for funds, and have the help of theyre producer asinged to me... x-d

but its easier said than done...especially since the US government is like Small Business is what drives our economy...and then they tax the hell outta ya...

oh well maybe one day...like...after christmas in 2004... ...

and hey is it legal for a sixteen year old to use an adult(parent) as a proxy on signing a contract?...wait i did have a question...

hehee i first heard it in Tango&Cash, me and brent were watching it one night round his like the first time we'd seen it cause we were bored s**tless.
Just though, hey thats what we'll call outselves... so we became
FUBAR Games - we were like what, 14 at the time seems kinda cool.
Well it just kinda stuck with us ... we've changed it to be more acceptable over the years. But it still gave the execs at nVidia a good chuckle when they heard what it really ment.
and kinda sums up how the company is really

I would strongly advise anyone thinking about self-publishing to think twice before getting 1,000 CDs run off. Reasons:
1. There's a very good chance that you'll wind up with 850 CDs in a corner of your spare room.
2. The day after the CDs are delivered, you'll discover some bug in the code that makes you cringe.
3. It's really hard to get into stores if you're a "company" with one product. They're used to dealing with a handful of big distributors. Most stores will say No, those willing to carry your product will want to take it on consignment rather than buy it outright.
4. It's really hard to get a distributor if you're a "company" with one product.
5. If you're selling from your web site, most people would rather download the demo and buy a registration code when the demo expires than wait for a CD to come in the mail. Instant gratification seems to beat owning the object.

Moral of the story: see how it sells as a download. If you still want to press CDs when you've earned the requisite $1000-1500 from online sales, go for it. Most one-person or small-team games will never earn that much, but it's nicer to have beer money trickle in than have a net loss and a cubic yard of CDs that nobody wants.
