Hey I just decided that I might try modeling for awhile.(when scripting is done)

What I am asking for is NOT free models or anything, but advice.

Please give any advice that I could use. NONE of that do the tutorials and what not either. I plan on it.

Here is what I am going to be using in case of curiosity.

Gamespacelight-mainly to model with, maybe animation
Blender-animate with for simple animations some modeling
switch to Paint.net-making .dds Textures

Well you should have asked when you ARE ready to start modeling. This isn't really the best place for finding advice honestly. The best place to find advice is at the forums that go along with the 3d modeling program you want to use.

However, you will find good advice here.

well i suggest that you use paint.net or gimp for textures another peace of advice is at first i didnt like uv mapping but now its my favorite part and just stick with it, and milkshape is a good thing to get, just for the fact that you can use it for so may things, i dont use it to model all that much but i use it to import and export alot, oh and always try to have the texture as good as possible in my opinion the texture makesthe model.

that has a learning curve comparable to Blender(in my opinion) start with Wings3D and MS3D then get XSI Mod Tools and Lithunwrap(if you can find it)

I'd recommed Milkshape for an all in 1 FPSC modelling solution.

If your going with Blender I'd recommend purchasing the tutorials from the following page link. Their very good value for money and video tutorials so you can see exactly whats going on.

Its great learning to do some modelling so you can really customize the look of your game.

whoa whoa, starting out wiht blender very very bold move my friend. Still it is a very powerful program. I recommended you might try sketchup that is very easy to use or just find another program and get another program and find which has the best feel.

Friendship is like peeing on yourself: everyone can see it, but only you get the warm feeling that it brings.
