Hey everyone iv wanted to know how i could give a gun some health so when it gets damaged it explodes with the explode script then dispersing. i have all that down but i dont know how to give or take health from a weapon id imagine its something like the exploding barrel. Thanks in advance

...you should be able to accomplish this with a weapon pickup, through some clever scripting.

There is currently no way to pull this off with a player-held weapon...

you could make it so that when a timer runs out or an activation value is reached then you could make the player drop the weapon and then you could destroy it(I can't get it to explode through the destroy action.

well the player wont hold the gun you see i thought if i modeled a character of a weapon then merge it with a character it would work better but you see that id have problems merging the2 characters to still have there own properties

...unless the enemy remained perfectly still, I don't see how the weapon character could remain in proper registration.

Motionless, this illusion would be possible to pull off...

see then i thought up this, if he has a shield attached then the health could be the same and once the health gets to like 50%0 the shield blows up then you have to damage the character another 50% to get the kill.

It'd be interesting to see what might be possible. It'd be pretty tough to get around the collision issues, no doubt, but might be worth a shot...

Yeah i have it done the model and the sheild now i thought another way around it, since its not a character or a weapon but a shield instead i think id be easier to treat it as an object so its pretty much like having a stock character holding a barrel that explodes, that is a better concept in my eyes

no an enemy that holds the shield and when you damage the enemy enough the shield blows up and then you fight the enemy without the shield

If you made the weapon a dynamic entity and picked it up and it had the proper animations given to it...then the weapon/entity can be given a strength setting to destroy it.
I would be really surprised if Lee and co. don't implement a strength setting for weapons eventually (hint...hint).
While it may be a "who cares" for firearms melee weapons incur damage and break.
If you give a melee weapon an ammo amount then when the ammo runs out the weapon "breaks"...you can't use it anymore until you "repair" it (find more ammo/kit whatever).
I am sure if these or other suggestions don't work for you then one of our members will think up something innovative.

I sure hope so thanks Fred for the advice my main problem though is merging the models while still having the 2 items have different properties.

@ Punk13 the idea of guns with health will be cool with melee weapons like Condemend like a axe can take 5 blows then snaps will be awsome could this work?
