Please take a look at this laptop at best buy and let me know what you think of using it for fpsc.

it is only 1300 and has a 512mb NVIDIA GeForce G9700M GT video card

I dont know that much about computers, but by experience I know laptops could be a bit "chinky" with some specs.
I got a laptop with NVIDIA GeForce 7600 Gt, and it do what it is supposed to do, but not much more.
If it doesnt matter if it is a stationary or a laptop I think you should buy a stationary. They feel much more stabilized
But thats my opinion.

I have a quad core extreme 3.2 with 4GB of ddr3 and a nvidia 768mb card, so I am okay. I am just needing to get a laptop that I can take with me to meeting to show progress with the game.

My computer is Dell XPS M1710 with 1 GB MB RAM

My Video card is NVIDIA GeForce Go 7900 GS 256 MB

I experience no abnormal lag and it looks as if I have less than the laptop you are looking at. But don't go by me. I'm not that familiar with hardware. In fact I wish I would have waited just a couple of months and I could have gotten a much better laptop from them. That's the problem with technology today. Improves too fast.

I am using v1.13 beta 4 and the fps rate is at 38 without characters for even large levels. The only time I see it go down is with a lot of characters but that is only down to around 28. This all depends on placement whether or not I use floorlogic, etc. So it really depends. With Lee's suggestion I can get a lot of characters close together and the rate is usually in the 30's and even around 37.

Hope this helps.

Should be ok for your needs but be aware that in my experience (I have an ASUS F8 with 9300M G), ASUS notebook monitors are not too great in terms of contrast or view angle which might be a factor in meeting use. The built in speakers on mine are also quite poor.

Yea, built in speakers aren't the greatest but good quality headphones takes care of that. The newer monitors are pretty good. I'm not sure what I have but I remember it being advertised as top of the line. It is a 17" wide screen as well. It has a shiny glass front and that sometimes causes a problem with glare but placing it just right usually works -- unless Mr. sunbeam is shining on it.

I ran it on a loptop a lot less than that, I had my eye on a laptop at best buy that was about $1700 total gaming rig. I don't remember the specs or brand, I think the guy told me it had 2 video cards or maybe 2 processors. That is probably the one to get if you can swing it
