Is there any such programme where I can scan two sides of a drawings (front and side views) and it automatically constructs a 3D model?

If there was, it would probably be expensive, and for good reason. An accurate one could eliminate the need for 3D modellers -- The designers draw the concept, scan it in, and hand it over to the animators.

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are in alphabetical order, like they should be.

I've seen a few, here's 2 of them

http://make3d.stanford.edu/
http://www.looxis.com/en/k75.Downloads_Bits-and-Bytes-to-download.htm

Can't remember the other ones. Those are what I found with Google. None of them work "automatically."

actually their is it's called image modeling, and it's included in pf track. However it take 6 views. and it will generate a texure map and unwrap it to. but it takes a lot of skill to use it and it's very expensive. and no offense but I think it might be above your skill level at the moment.

Some people actually own one - on another forum a guy has one and scanned in an action man - it's fairly accurate...but expensive.

As for the type of modeller the original poster asked actually exist, but Quote the Raven has beaten me to it - though there are better ones out there that I've seen featured in magazines - apologies as I can neither remember the names of these programs or where I put the magazines with them in. But I'm doing a tidy up today - so if I come across any 3D magazines I'll check them.

Why would even you want that? A machine could never achieve the same kind of individualization or detail that a skilled character modeler could achieve, so it's kind of unnecessary really.

And it's also the inaccurate way out, if it was so darn accurate more professional companies would use it as it obviously would save them a ton on pay checks and similar things. But no? They use Humans? I wonder why...

zbrush can take two images and make a concept block. You need to have the two images. From there you model as normal. However its very useful.

Minute 3.00 shows the concept tool.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gm8bAg4DVy8&feature=related

Note by 3d model are we talking about 3d model as in the computer game kind or the 3d plasic men from a 3d printer. If its the computer game view the movie. If not don't read my post will not help.

I'll add something later on.

One word - David laserscanner

Only with a webcam and a laserpointer wich produces a line you can scan all kind of objects. And its free too
But it doesnt make models from pics, but you dont have to do anything here either.

I was going through my cover disks and I find the program I was talking about, conveniently, it's called 'Image modeller':

Although the one Seppuku posted isn't very automatic, it's still a modeler.

Well no, a program isn't just going to do all of the work for you - it can cut out hard jobs, but not do all the work. (play with the trial if you want)

Except 3D scanners which frankly are too expensive. (plus not as if you can scan a human or a house anyway. )

I don't see why not..

There are tons of examples on that David Laserscanner site of people who have scanned their heads, I don't see why you couldn't expand on that and scan your whole body too.

That scanning software looks nifty, I'm buying a laser line pointer and giving it a go ^^. At the worst I will have wasted 15 bucks lol.
