Hello everyone

With my projects in rapid production(thanks to a 3 month break from school), I'm planning on building a website. That way I'll be able to post all my work, and have a (hopefully)more professional way of displaying my work.

So this is my question for you.

What webhost do you recommend?
Limitations, are.
- I know .asp, html, and can use frontpage.
- Must have at least 40mb's storage.
- e-mail accounts in website, are a must.
- 1 GB monthy transfer(at the very bare minimum)
- Unlimited pages(almost standard with all, I believe)
- Pricing range between $0.01 - $8.00
- Setup fees are of no concern right now.(unless it's $100+, which is unlikely)

So far some of the webhosts that have really gathered my interest are

-freewebs
-netfirms
-one dollar hosts(I am skiptical about this one though, and the quality)

Please post any recommendations, what your using now(if you like it), or what you have used(if you liked or disliked)

Thanks for your time, and I will post any further updates.

Try http://www.comparewebhosts.com/default.asp?ad=go for a comparison of web hosts. You can select price range, features and then sign up for the one you want.

Check out [href]www.hostek.com[/href]cheap, really good, $5.00 USD a month for the cheapest one, and I was up and running in about 2 hours with them.

Their customer service is really good. For work we use Interland, and Innerhost, both big hosters, but not worth the money, the Customer Service sucks compared to Hostek.

You can also shop around for domain names, cheapest I have found was $12.00, seen some 20 - 70 dollar ones.

Hmmm, out of the 10,000+ webhosts, I think I've narrowed it down to two choices

http://www.herculeshoster.com/plan.asp

http://members.freewebs.com/?error=2

I've already used freewebs "free" package, which was fairly good for being free. But Hercules hoster, just seems to be much more feature packed. For the top plan on Hercules hoster, it's about $100/yr. compared to freewebs top $42 service.Of course, Hercules hoster does provide the unlimited monthly transfer, and storage.Freewebs also lacks discussion forums, and streaming of audio/video clips.

So now, I basically just have to make sure this Hercules hosting service is reliable, and then I should soon be purchasing.

In the mean time, feel free to post any other webhosting services, and I will gladly take a look at them, for I'm not 100% solid with the HerculesHoster.

Try Angelfire. I calculated the price ranges, and with a registered lycos domain name (if you get a tk one, lower price by about $35 yearly), during the first year, its about $155 with 225 MB Disk Space, 7.5 GB Monthly Transfer, CGI support, email, subdomains, etc. And no adds. And after the first year, its only $95 dollars yearly, with a lycos domain, or $60 dollars yearly with a TK domain. I use angelfire, and it pretty reliable, and it supports frontpage (even though I dont use it.) But, I'm not sure how reliable the extra features are, the ones that jack the price up to $155 for the first year, I use the free plan.

Edit: I mean 275MB Disk Space

At first glance, I'm a mediocre mech pilot. Look again and you will see my battlemech's computer code rushing through my eyes. My Mech And I Are One!

I also found one called ipowerweb. It's $96 yearly ($8 Monthly), but you have to resignup yearly, and it gives you a free domain name, 500 MB Disk Space, 30 GB Monthly Transfer, (I dont know why) 300 POP email accounts, and a truck load of other stuff. Though I dont like the resignup yearly thing, I'd use this if my mom let me use her credit card .

Check out this one I posted above. It has three different rates, and I think it's the one I'm going to chose. They have nice servers, sound and look reliable, and a good rate.Plus they have unlimited e-mail accounts, unlimited storage, and unlited gb transfer. Now, obviously, as of now, the unlimted amounts of these items aren't as important now, but will be later.

http://www.neutelligent.com/

That link you gave is old, for I think they've updated to the above link.

I think I'm still sticking with the hercules hoster, for they have a lot of the same options as the above, at a more reasonable price. Thanks anyway.

Yea, and it looks fairly reliable. I'm gonna give the admins/owners an e-mail with a couple questions before I sign up, just to be sure. Yea, it'll have everything you need.

- streaming videos/audio
- unlimited space
- unlmiited monthly transfer
- unlimited pop e-mail
- forums
- free domainname
- e-commerce stuff
- live stats
- sub-domains
and much much more!

hey NWC Omega, if you plan on using that hosting package, put me down as the one who referred you. Then, I'll give you the first commercial game I make(could be about a year though), for free.
