It's not going to happen. XP does not support DirectX 10, and never will. I swear a new one of these threads is created every day, please for the love of God bother to search before posting.

Yes. What Benjamin said.
XP does not support DirectX 10, and never will. FPSC X10 will not work on any other operating system than Windows Vista because it requires files that only Vista has got and only Vista will ever - legally - have, therefore there is no way that First Person Shooter Creator will ever work on Microsoft Windows XP.

Jesus, people were asking these questions when I left six months ago, I would have thought people would have gotten the picture now.

Why do these threads keep popping up? Everyone has made it more than clear that THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE.

Goodness gracious people.

ok ok I've found that out after I've posted this.

BUT is there a way to get allies without x10 or sensei (sensei does not work for me as I have refered earlier)?

Okay, first off, it is most likely possible to get DirectX 10 on XP. For example, take Halo 2 for Windows Vista. Everyone knows that that game has been brought to XP. People also know that it utilizes some DX10 things that don't need a special graphics cards. Commands made for ease of use, or something...

Now, I really have no idea how they went about doing this, and I understand that doing something with FPSC X10 would be way more difficult, but I have no doubt that it is possible. However, I'm not sure about the legality of it...

If you can prove this (which you can't, because it isn't possible without a very large amount of knowledge and a lot of free time) then I'll believe it. I'm sick of people saying DX10 can be used on XP when they don't have a clue about what's involved.

Halo 2 never ever used DirectX 10 so your argument is moot.

...per previous posts, X10 is slated to be ported over for XP use.

I don't recall seeing an E.T.A. on the event, but would imagine that it will take place around the timeframe of X9's V2.0 release...

@ Benjamin:

I recall reading something about some DirectX function or class or something present only in Vista that had to be messed around with in order to get Halo 2 to work on XP.

I'm not saying that Halo 2 used DirectX 10, as the original Xbox used something similar to DirectX 8.1, and I'd guess that the Vista version was ported to DirectX 9. I'm just saying that I've heard of some Vista only thing that Halo 2 Vista needs to have in order to work.

I'm not an expert at all. I'm saying what I've heard.

I'm pretty sure Halo 2 was just locked to Vista, I don't think there was anything provided by Vista that was necessary for it to run. Then again I'm not sure, so maybe you're right about that. However, the DX10 argument still stands.

@ Benjamin:
What about open-source projects intended to bring certain libraries, etc. to platforms without those libraries normally available, like Mono?

I mean, I think if the .NET Framework can be ported to various Linux Distributions and MacOS, it must be possible to bring DirectX 10 to XP.

Perhaps, but not ourselves we can't.

No, of course not. I'm just saying that it is possible. I really would be completely lost when it comes to doing such a thing, as would most other people.
