Sure first of go into model view and create a simple plain, all objects are placed under the object icon at the lower left hand of your screen, left click and hold to bring up the object list and select the plain, Along the same toolbar look for the icon that looks like a paint palette and left click on that to bring the material editor, then from there look to the left of your screen at the lower left vertical toolbar, the top icon is the image browser left click on that and search for the image you wish to use, Drag the image to the material editor or little screen. this is the screen that came up after clicking on the paint palette icon, from there drag again but this time from that little material screen to your object. now that the plain is textured you can resize the plain to the specs of the image.
to do that you right click on the arrow icon that is the first icon on the lower right toolbar. this will bring up the object property dialog there you can set the size of the texture.

so if you say use an image that is 800 x 600 your not going to want a model that is 800 x 600 units in size so resize it to say like 8.0 x 6.0 and so on you can set the rotation from there as well.

All their tutorials are free now at the Caligari truespace site. worth taking a look.
