I'm not going to bother with animation cutscenes.

How do I make it so at certain points, text comes onto the screen explaining the story or other things

also I want non-hostile NPC's that I can talk to
and how would I make it so at a certain point in the game, npc's join me to make a party

Ugh... SEARCH and for the love of nickydude, check his guide! Its a sticky!

Making text appear should be in his guide
There is a script for dialouge with npc's somewhere on the board
As for NPC's joining your party, learn to script and edit the ally script found in the "Ally Script Revive" thread under scripting. On a lighter note, welcome to the forums.

I love Jenkins forever :p

About making text appear
I read the thing about it on Nicky Dude's sticky...

but it confused me ALOT
I put his script into notepad
but the directions with it are so confusing to me

I know very little about scripting
if anyone could explain this to me that would be great
