Hello, I have downloaded the 3Ds max trial from Autodesk and have been giving it a go. I have created this model and was wondering whether you could combine 2 objects together into one object.



To stop smoothing looking like this...



If you could help, that would be great.

I'm new to 3DS Max.

You could group them (note the group button on the toolbar at the top). Or maybe link it (the button right next to the redo button).

Yeah, if its an editable poly you just need to find the attach button to make both of the objects one. Then you use either the weld tool or the target weld tool found under the vertex mode to weld the vertex's together.

TO combine two diffrent things with each other, you would need to use a Boolean subtraction/addition.
Follow this simple tutorial. it explains most of the basic things in the boolean feature.
