I would like to have a screen come up in the very beginning of the game introducing the story.
I don't know how to do this, sorry.

An example would be the beginning of Morrowind, with the woman talking about why the character is there etc...

I just want a black screen with some text showing up.
and then about 5 seconds after it's done... the first level starts.

ok all you have to do is use a video recorder like fraps and write the text u want in paint in while letters with a black background then record it with fraps and put it into a story zone then when ur building ur level put your story zone ontop of ur player start and it will show the video.
