Is there a converter that will change DBP codes into C++?

When it is too complicated it is because you are trying at the wrong door.

Even if there was, you probably don't want it, because it wouldn't be able to use all the extra features that C++ has that you wouldn't find in DBP.. some of those essentials being object oriented programming and pointers.

True dat. But you could make a basic conversion then go back and optimize once you have a foundation set.

The thing is, the few things that a converter wouldn't be able to properly convert due to complexity would be the type of thing that someone using a converter wouldn't know how to handle.

i think that maybe the idea was to quickly convert dbp commands to their dgdk equivalents using the converter. soemtiems you come across some dbp sample source that you would like to test in dgdk so such a converter would be handy

If nothing else, converting old DBP projects to get a fresh start in the GDK wouldn't be a bad idea. But it would be tons of work to get things to run properly. And besides -- the real differences lie in the programming syntax anyway. Most of the commands remain essentially the same from DBP, it's how you implement tham that's different and no converter can translate that without taking a lot of effort to create.

thanks a lot Dabbler.

this converter works great i have managed to easily convert a lot of 20liners into dgdk. obviously once you have the main code up & running you can clean it up and replace some dbpro commands with c++ ones...
