There are many types of people in the world, but few types of INTERNET people.

What I mean by Internet people, is the background the person grew up in from the start to the end. I feel that the more and more AOL comes out and stuff, the more Internet Type people are erased. When I was a newbie, back in 01, I was happy and all on the GameShark Discussion Board..and they had people that were smarter then even me at this point, that had good game hacking skillz with the hex edtior and all w/ modifiyed gameboy roms and such....I grew up on their, but the more and more I go to diffrent forums the more I find that few are like that anymore...Its really sad and all, because "Internet People" would be great to have around these days...(well, hey.nu is the only place I know with em besides Azure Heights (search for it lol))...

Where did you grow up in/on? I'm a pure GameSharkie and proud of it, except now the GS boards are like AOL heaven for n00bs that have no clue what they are doing

I was frustrated at the lack of programs to do certain tasks, so I learned how to program in Delphi and later VB. As I got stuck with problems I couldn't solve, I used the internet to read forums and so on.

I then went on to host a Nintendo emulation website, which hosted and allowed users to discuss N64 / Gameboy emulation. I also had about 50 N64 games and > 100 Gameboy games hosted. As many pros left the N64 arena fed up with the lack of fresh talent in the emulation coding field, I left.

Then a friend introduced me to DB...
a year later I got DBP

One day I had one of those spring of the moment "I wanna make a game", type thing. I searched google, and on about the second page, I saw dark basic classic. Then I went to the forums, and asked about it.

In fact, I have my first post saved on word somewhere, lol. This is because these forums are so great and helpful, and this is where I'm growing up now.

Yea, it's almost sad, but I spend at least 2 hours a day looking through these forums. Though I wouldn't say it's sad, because I learn a lot from them, and occasionally, I can help some people out. Although, anymore I try to avoid the newcomer's section because of the huge flood of newcomers since June 1st-->July 20th.I still enjoy these forums, and even one I move onto other programming languages, I think I'll still stick around these forums for a little while.

I grew up here. My dad does computer stuff, and so i have been brought up around computers. I have wanted to learn games for a long time, and i wanted to learn C++. You can guess what happened. I read a tid-bit about BASIC (pure) in a internet history book i read (Nerds 2.1.0). I then learned about it off dev sites and there was stuff about other BASIC languages when i saw this on db:

Dark Basic:
Used to create up-to-date 3D windows games

I then found it's web site and fell in love with it!

(this is more of an avatar test, and I'm trying to make this post useful.)

Heheh, yea, I've been growing up with computers for a long time now.
I'm finally starting to learn some C++,VB6, and the other big languages. It's a lot of work, but I think I'll make my applications (editors, etc.)in C++, and the actual games in DBP.Well, that's my plan for now at least.
