Hi all,

I started playing around with FPSC a few days ago, as a possible means to creating something that will tie in with a movie project that I am involved with, and so far, it seems perfect.

I do however have a couple of questions in regards to texturing, I've included a screenshot of something very quick and dirty that I knocked up, just so that you can see what I'm talking about.

I've looked around for a couple of days, but haven;t been able to find anything, so if there is something out there on this subject, I sincerely apologise and would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction

In the attachment I have highlighted a few sections which are supposed to be lights. Is there a setting withing the FPS files that I can change or something I can do with the textures themselves which will make these sections 'brighter'. ie. make them look like they are lights? (in modelling software, this setting is called luminosity or emissive or something thereabouts.

Also, in a more generalised way, is there information on the specularity/bump/reflection settings of the FPS files?

I know it's asking a lot, but ideally a breakdown of what each of the FPS file settings does would be a dream LOL.

Anywho, thanks for taking the time to read this.

One last thing, on a completely unrelated note, is there somewhere on the forum where it's acceptable to advertise for people to help out? Couldn't find anything.

Again, Thanks

That looks like the walls from Star Trek Voyager... and like Henry said, I believe its workable in x10.

What I would do is put one light per segment, making them look lit up. Plus it won't affect your fps much so, you should be fine.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies. I'm using x9.

And yeah, the corridors are Voyager style (meshes and textures by myself, so nothing stolen, or borrowed), as the project I'm working on is Star Trek based (it's all non-commercial, so copyright isn't an issue )

I had thought about using x10, but due to the 'limited' amount of people that have upgraded to vista so far, I don't really want to limit the 'customer' base at this point.

Having looked at the FPSC files some more, I noticed that there are a couple of effects in the effectbank called 'illuminationent' and 'illuminationmap' does anyone know of any documentation about these effects and how they are used? I was thinking that if they work the way I think they do (after looking at the code) I may be able to modify one or both to suit my needs.

Thanks
