Mattman, don't panic about it. Worse could've been done, and if Carlotis would have used the search function, I'm sure this problem could've been avoided.

He's not an idiot, he's new. Elitist attitudes towards beginners only create a society that locks the outside out, and is doomed to rot from within.

Most people here range from ages 10 to 30+...When I was 10, I had proper manners and didn't say f*ck all the time and steal threads when I was on forums because of basic parental teachings. Obviously, he is an idiot if he has no respect for other people and forum rulez.

Yes I have seen his language elsewhere. If he reads this - we do not support that type of language here - we are a friendly community. Please refrain from swearing and everything will go well.

Now that's a storm I've had the misfortune of being cought up in LOL.... No offence intended to the forementioned ofcourse, bunch of great guys

we here are RavenLtd. believe that swearing and violence is big and clever ... unfortunately some people don't (^_^)
so hold on a f**kin' second whilst i transfer you over to a f**kin' polite bu**er!

(^_^) hehee ... sorry but i'm a good sight older than 10 and i don't see a problem with swearing, it kinda dictacts the mood of the individual, especially online where you can't see the face or heard the words of what is being said.
accentuations like strawberrys and kitties go towards an inuendo just as LARGE and bold! go towards either shouting or making a point more obvious.

The problem with swearing is that there are younger individuals browsing this forum and it is not up to you to judge what they are allowed to see, Raven, that's their parents' job. I personally don't see anything wrong with kurses (I mean swearing... linux is getting to me) when I'm not around younger individuals, but this is a public forum and ANYONE could be reading it, see?

Mattman anwser this question, and if rich/lee, or whoever happens to read this post, will be a good determination of why you should be a mod.

Why do you want to become a mod, and what benefit will it have to me(me meaning, rich, rpgamer, solidz, and the rest of the community)?

I concur wholeheartedly...but I also think it's sort of due to a lack of security in one's self, i.e. computer nerds - they sit in dark corners of their mother's basement all day playing unreal tournament and invent their own "language" and call it "leet". then if someone is new and they don't understand something, instead of getting help people go around saying "i'll own you back to wisconsin!" or "stop being such a n00b!!!!!!!!!! w00tness!!"

It's disgusting.

Thats what people thought of me when I first joined the forums. i had a big idea I was developing, everyone was saying that I couldnt finish it, that I was a n00b, and that I was a fool. After that, I wanted to leave the forum. But ever since then, I managed to get at least one person interested in my project, and I'm sure at least 3 downloaded the current demo! If this keeps up, I might get at least 10 people waiting patiently for my project by the time its released! The forum is a great place to be as long as people dont make others feel bad. So for all of you, dont make newcomers feel bad.

At first glance, I'm a mediocre mech pilot. Look again and you will see my battlemech's computer code rushing through my eyes. My Mech And I Are One!

You know mods do more then just lock flamebaits and tell people off for swearing. I believe they're supposed to have a lot of knowledge of DB(P) and be able to help newbies and people with questions, hence why RPGamer and Indi are always in the Newcomer forum answering questions.

I thought there was a age limit on mods too, sumthin like 14 and older for maturity reasons. Personally (and don't take offense of this mattman) i don't think you would make a very formidable mod.

1. you are now just starting programming thus you can't answer as many questons as most mods should(being as mods should have a better knowledge then some in the language of the forum they are moderating)

2. There is a maturity factor that should be involved. Frankly I do not find you very mature as you are always making a bunch of stupid posts (I.E. Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!) a hell of alot. I don't really ever see you making a helpful post(maybe every few weeks).

3. Your complaining over every tidbit in posts and nagging of mods seems to show you are a very impatient person. Not a mod quality.

Basiclly i could not see YOU as a mod and there are far better choice out there. FARRRRRRRRRRR better choices.

lol

Why everyone else wonna be mods all of a sudden

Anyhow, my folder that conatins all legal stuff from bills invoices and bank statements to contracts and qualifications has a section devoted to Dark Basic

In this folder there are 2 DONDs and some letters/emails from rich and lee.

@ number 1. My DB is not up to scratch at the moment, but my multiplayer is. I am slowly learning and planning a C++ server app that will run on linux or wondows. Hopefully when i have got somming working i will be able to contact Rob K about writing a DLL to allow DB Apps to talk and recieve info from the servers.

@ number 2. I find myself very mature, i am contantly mistaken for being 21 because of my speach, thought out answers and IQ level. Although a good humor is needed as being able to see and take jokes will stop any wrongfull locking.

@ number 3. I only post when i think i have a valid point unless it is a jokeing/funny/wierd post where it is accepted. I do hate the lol only posts though

Lol

Well as i said above there need sto be a level of maturity and Mattman does not have the maturity( and at his age ) I doubt he has the intellegence to do it, and do it effectivly.

Personally i would like to be a mod one day but i don't think it'll happen for me, i don't belive i have shown that i have what it takes to be a mod here. I mean i'm a mod in a few other forums out on the net, but i have never dealt with a community of this size. So maybe one day when some people migrate away i can become a mod.

But yes Martyn you would make a good mod(seeing as you not making incoherent BS posts every 10 minutes). And if Rich makes anew mod i would hope to see somebody who is, lets say mature.
