I have a level design in my head that has a huge cliff, maybe 500 feet tall. the player only plays the top 50 feet, so I can easily fit that inside of the 40x40x20 level. My question is this: Can I model the cliff and have most of it fall outside the level grid? Or will it be clipped / editor not let me?

i just tested this by placing a skyscraper entity on level 20 ( it reached at least to level 24 if there were one) and when i went into test game it simply didnt show up, therfore, yes, entitys that are outside the grid do not show up as far as i know

You could use a 'skybox' to create the feeling you are on a cliff/mountain top.

@Ross, Yeah, i'll model it in blender and render it into a skybox

That could be the axis thing of it, like, say it was 5 stories high, and you placed it on level 20, storey 1 of the building,It may not work, where as story 17 floor 1, wich would leave building levels 4 and 5 in 21 and 22, may work.
