DarkBASIC Professional Discussion / Taco Shaped Cylinders???

having trouble with DBPRO agian...

Whenever i make a cylinder it comes out Taco shaped. Only half of the shape is drawn, I don't understand why...

MAKE OBJECT cylinder 2,2
SCALE OBJECT 2,500,500,500
COLOR OBJECT 2,RGB(0,0,255)

It's called 'culling'.

You have expanded the cylinder so much that the camera is inside it. Now, all the polygons making up the cylinder are facing 'away' from you. Away-facing polys are not drawn by default.

If you use 'SET OBJECT CULL 2,0' to switch culling off, all the polys will be drawn.

Er, why in the world are you scaling it after making it? If you want it to be 5x larger than 2, just enter 10

That's the reason the camera isn't adjusting to match its size. If you had made it with 10 size by default, it would have been outside the camera.

to my knowledge dbc culls objects as well

Yeah, it will cull the object as standard, in DBC you'd set the object flag for culling. A little easier in DBPro, just SET OBJECT CULL obj,0.
