That actually could be put to good use... Have a video of a real environment playing on the green screen. Interesting concept, GM. Great job.

ive did a fair bit of green screening in fpsc when i used it. I used it to get pics of models and such. Easy to crop out the model against a green screen

Nice technology

You should go ahead and make something really insane now.

Portals spring to mind. These look as good as the ones in Prey.

Thanks for the comments everyone! This green screen made me think of making a FPSC special effects pack... Any suggestions of what I should add to it?

As so many FPSC characters have green in their textures (camo, zombie skin etc), it might be worth using a color more like 255,0,234
If you use green, you might end up with problems of tolerance on the characters, whereas you could chromakey pink more easily.

Yeah, but bond1's commando showed up fine despite all the green on it's texture.

For the people who don't have an editing program that can do this effect: Download the bluescreen from here. Now follow this tutorial and you're done!

People have shown plently of interest in what your doing. There are alot of other people who have made cool stuff out their, they need to get their turn too. This thread can't be the centre of attention all the time...

Don't go in a huff. Keep your stuff on. People don't post cos you haven't given any updates and the thread is down near the bottom. That's all. I for one liked this idea...

...I find this useful and very interesting, Game Maker.

Please don't pull down your links. I'm sure I'm not the only one who finds them to be very helpful.

Thanks for your time and efforts, in sharing this with the community...

Its not the number of posts you get in a thread but the people that post in them and the feedback you get. You've had some names posting in this thread with decent feedback which you should be pleased about.

Anyway I've still not seen you respond to the comment I made about using these green screens for a decent FPSC portal technology that would allow you to see the environment your about to enter like in Prey.

Get a copy of prey for PC or 360, complete the first couple of levels then you will know. Or see the attached pic for a rough idea.

Oh, I get it... Though I don't see how you can use the green screen for portals.

In cutscenes I guess.......

I could make that effect in DBP, in theory. I could make it so you could "see through" the portals, but not walk or fire through.....

Yeah I was just thinking this could be used for creating some nice FPSC portal effects ingame or cutscenes from the looks of the video.

Even though it would just be a portal effect, you could try implementing the teleport script for the screen entity ai to take the player to that environment in a fairly seamless way.

You could even set up another screen at the other end showing the environment you just came from effectively using portals in the same way as prey just by designing a single map to have a number of areas only accessible via portals.

Has anyone created anything cool with the blue/green screen yet?

Don't click the image, it links to an image hosting site!
