Well, I'm bored again and I wanted to post something up about my game I'm making :p

This is NOT in DB/E/Pro so I'm not posting it in the announcements section.

The game is developed in the C language, and using Allegro libraries. Anyways, thats not the point. The game is based approximatly 2,000 years after DBZ/GT. In this time, you play as Piccolo (starting in Hell) and work your way back to Earth. When you get back to Earth, there are many many Anti Alien Corporations that are trying to kill off any aliens. Piccolo, being one of the most obvious aliens is attacked immediatly, and when he tries to attack the Humans, they are able to use Ki too! (yay!)...eh..you'll have to read the storyline on a forum (link in a moment) or wait for the release..

For those who don't know, DragonBall V is a Fan Fic written by "Mr. Awesome". Check it out @ http://invisionfree.com/forums/Dragonball_V/index.php?act=idx

If anybody is interested in this RPG (2D), I can post up some developement images.

* yawns *

BORING!!

I hate Dragon Ball Z, it's a stupid cartoon that Gofu(or something like that) always ends up beating the supposedly unstoppable baddie.

Why aren't you doing it in DB?

Anyway, I love DBZ. Actually, I like the old one better. But DBZ was good until the Majin-Buu Saga. It got totally unbelievable.

Dragon Ball Z rules! But yeah, the Buu saga was a little off the wall. Is this game going to be free when released? I love good freeware games (think about it for those of you who dont get it, (Free+(Great Graphics+Good Story+Good Controls))=Great Overall!)

I'm not doing this in DarkBASIC because I need to prove to myself I can do a game in C/C++ thats good.

This is going to be COMPLETELY free. The story will be highly focused on, I got a great guy for that ^_^, the controls will be simualar to Legacy of Goku 1/2, and the graphics..well, I'm not too sure about them. Yay for Freeness

I agree with the Majin Buu crap. It was a great part, but near the end when everybody started absorbing everybody it got unbeliveable...

DBZ is cool, but only if you can get ahold of the oringinal Japanese version. Funimation took to many liberties with this show, new diologe, new music, hell about the only thing left untouched was the animation, no wait scratch that, they even changed that some.

As for fanfics, I've yet to a decent one yet, most lack basic fundementals that are needed to create the right feel, just look at GT.

False, GT is a COMPLETE falure. They didn't even have Akira Toriyama's input on it. It's complete crap.

Mattman, I haven't released even an alpha version. But if you all would like, I can post one up

Of course, its no where near even a "good" alpha version. Ki blasts still go under layer 2 tiles, ki blasts don't explode on impact with anything, etc...But whatever

Mattman, that's and understatement. Some battle took like 20 shows, even more sometimes. They really dragged it out at the end.

Yes. Right now collision is working and ki blast explosions are working too....but taking a screenshot of that is hard. I'll make dialog boxes or something and take a screenshot of that.

I suggested the dialogue boxes from Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete. With the characters face right next to the dialouge, their facial expressions at the time too.

i'd look forward to this... cept with the exception of Bid For Power, no other DB/Z/GT based game has ever been any good.

and no doubt if this does get far enough to be good, Funimation will slap a restraining order on your ass - its what they do to Americans/Canadians.

either base the project in europe where they can't touch you, or base it on GT - they've shut down so many projects, whenever i see a new one i generally don't even bother to get interested.
sorry if it sounds pecimistic, but you really should just make your own game with a DBZ style rather than a DBZ based game.

Restraining order? You mean they will request me to take it down?

Quote: "either base the project in europe where they can't touch you, or base it on GT"

Huh? If I base it on GT its the same thing - they will shut me down I thought..

I personally hated BFP, the players moved so fast it was nearly impossible to hit them.

I haven't played it, but that seems cool DBZ Budakai has it so you can only go certain speeds, unlike in the show..Which sucks.

I can't remember, I played it ages ago for a very short time. Most people probably liked it but I had pretty high expectations. Like Raven says, don't listen to the hype. lol.

Yeah, I think a DB-Style game like Raven suggests rather then a DB-Based game is the way to go. It'd be pretty cool to be in some intense groud/air battles doing all kinds of cool fighting combos with the occasional KI blast as a special move.

If I ever get some free time I might make such a game. lol.

True... hmm, only solution is to come up with one yourself. Much harder then using DBZ's though, especially coming up with a good one lol.

you can have a similar story line Kanz... just don't name the characters the same or call it DBZ.

but note, Funimation ONLY have rights over DB/Z ... a canadian company (that also translated zoids & are set to do GiTS: SAC) did DBGT - which means taking your story/plot/characters from that are oki because they're pretty cool about fangames

althought i'd rather see a totally new story with DBZ-Style things than a DBZ game.
as for BFP, yes it was fast - and it was ment to be ... if you ever play it on a LAN it becomes a truely quality game. (though i'm a lil bias as i helped Rodney develop the original models for it)

you know this reminds me of the Futurama game, has anyone played that? bloody quality game! love the zoidberg levels -

Kan... it does... thier appearances are different
trust me about this, i've had to research this more times than i'd care to count.

and don't get me wrong - i love DBZ! ... but i'd prefer to actually play a game for once which isn't crap based in DBZ, it doesn't have to have my favourite character in it ... just as long as Kakarotto IS NOT the hero i'll be happy to play it
(i'm so sick of that useless brainless moron )

there needs to be a DB based game where Vegeta is the hero
have it far more darker affair ... pushed more for an adult selection of gamers (^_^)

god i love dark games with multiple backgrounds, its something i just naturally excel at doing hehee

I agree Raven, there needs to more Hell-like games. Vegeta would be the best role, followed by Piccolo as the secondary character.

(Ever seen End of Days? Remember the introduction theme? ^_^)
