People still run their desktops at 800x600?

Shocking!

I've been running 1024x786 for years...

800*600 is the only usable one. I can barely see at any higher resolution. I can't undestand for the life of me how anyone could use it like that.

Safe mode.

I can't remeber exectly how to get windows to start in safe mode. Repetedly hit F5 or F8 while it is booting. I use the method and just restart it while windows is booting and it will ask you how to bood. When in safe mode change the res back and restart.

You can't SEE?

I'll be frank here-- either your eyes or bad, or your monitor is bad. Much more likely the latter.

I can't switch back to 800x600-- everything is big and clunky, you don't have enough room to manage things, and it looks blocky too. Individual pixels glare out at you from every corner of the screen... eck.

It's not my eyes. I have better than 20-20. Maybe it's my monitor. It's only 12.5*9.75 (I just measured with a ruler). When I go to any higher resolution it's just too blurry and small. But whats strange, is whenever I use another computer at a higher resolution, It looks fine. I'll try changing Windows text/icon sizes.

Yeah, that's a smallish monitor. I think 15" is the average?

Actually, I think it said 15 or whatever on the package, but that's the plastic part of the monitor. The screen itself is much smaller. I've gotta get a new computer one of these days.
