Dark GDK / Problem

So I am brand new to this whole programming thing. I just downloaded Dark GDK on my computer, which runs on Vista, along with DirectX SDK from August 2008 and Visual C++ 2008. So I am pretty sure I have all the programs required to run it.

The problem is when I open a Dark GDK source, and I want to teach myself something, when I click debug, even on the default source code, it gives me the build error message. This happens every single time. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

The Direct X version you're supposed to link it with is the version from August 2007.

Yes. The install specified linking with specific libraries and DLLs. If it can't find the library to link to or it can't find the specific functions in the library then it's going to give you an error.
