We currently have a version undergoing testing that matches DB Pro version 7.0. Expect to see more about this after the convention.

Is GDK.Net will be on the same level when the new GDK (7.0) is out or are we to wait an other 6 month+ to have all the TGC product at the same level

Yes GDK .NET will be on the same level as DB Pro. I'll be speaking to APEXNow about this soon.

Great news Mike! Thanks for letting us know!

I think next releases of DGDK.NET won't take as long, this was the longest because of a great ammount of changes it had.

Oh, and Mike, I have another question! Any plans on getting DarkPhysics, DarkAI and DarkLight ported to .NET? From the help I gave Paul I know it already works with DarkShader. I just wanna be able to use my plugins with .NET ^^

Expect we will see the plugins converted over to GDK .NET. Again something I need to talk to Paul about and we'll figure out the best way of doing it.

btw, is there the possibility to fix the annoying Lost Device bug?!!! Pleeeeaaasssseee...

Thanks for the good news Mike...

Will the debug version be released too so that we can debug our own applications?

Wow, what a self-contradicting name. xD

What's new in 7.0? I'm too lazy to check it out.

When exactly is the GDK being updated to 7.0?

Also what is the advantage of gdk.net, over the standard gdk? Or is it simply for prefrence of c#?

Cheers

Two things, really:

1) Simply preferring C# over C++.

2) Integrated OOP. As C# is fully-OOP, they have integrated built-in classes. Instead of dbScaleSprite(iID, fScale), you use spriteObject.ScaleSprite(fScale). There aren't anymore ID's to track.

Of course, you could use a third-party solution (like Jason's and AndrewT's wrappers) that do similar. It's up to you.

Now, Service pack 1 is released for Visual C++ ED .. and some plugins like Dark Physics doesnt work. It says, that library was compiled with older version of compiler.

Hi Mike! Any news about it?

I know TGC must be tired of us asking, but it really is a sad thing we're just not informed of any progress. Unfortunately I couldn't chat with APEX the last couple of weeks. Is the .NET being updated as well (so that both gets released updated to 7.0)?

Thanks for any more info you could provide.

APEX has uploaded a new version of .NET and I'm currently testing it. Will see how it works out over the next few days and then we can look at getting it released assuming all is okay.

Lee is currently doing a few things with the other version of GDK. Hoping that can be sorted out soon.

I can check all plugins and release new libs or installers if needed.

If it will be more than around 1 month before the release of the new DarkSDK, then is there a procedure where a person may be able to get a copy of the beta of the new DarkSDK for some testing?

The reason I ask is that the current version of DarkSDK is giving me huge problems with mesh and texture matching when I am making terrains with the inbuilt "Terrain" commands.
I have to make a serious decision of whether to dump my current terrain system using these commands and rebuild everything with ordinary "Matrix" commands.

From what I have read about the "BASIC" version of the new library, the terrain code is different now, and it would be great to know if it now works as I require.

EDIT: UGHHHHH!!!!! after a day of pulling my hair out .... even the current "Matrix" commands are broken.
The "dbGetGroundHeight ( int MatrixNumber, float X, float Z )" gives wrong information after a person has used the "void dbPositionMatrix ( int MatrixNumber, float X, float Y, float Z )
" function.

Please Lord, let this poor lamb be pleasantly surprised with the new release.

I just asked Lee on the live broadcast about the next GDK update. He said that they are always working on GDK in the background, as they use it internally themselves, and although we don't see new updates coming every month, there will be new updates coming soon.

The problem is that while they are always working on it in the background, they only release one version every 6-10 months. Now when that version has a bug (and it seems to always have at least a big one) you seem to always be working around something, which is a shame.

I have vague plans for World Domination
