...A oil drum?

But as far as I can see its just a cylinder with a texture applyed try to give some different views so we can see more detail on the object, and zoom in a bit.

Zoom in a bit and re-render so we can acually see the texture that render is to far away to see any of the details so we cant tell you if you messed up the seams or anything like that.

What kind of look were you going for? a rusted barrel kinda texture? As far as I can see there are not any visible seams which is good and i cant really see any texture stretching so its not bad, mabey just practice a bit with photoshop or whatever it is you use to paint the textures, look up some tutorials and such.

A UV Map isn't necessarily needed by it is what tells the 3d software and game engine where each piece of the texture goes, so if you don't use the UV Map it probably wont work right if you load it into a game. There are loads of tutorials on photoshop all around the internet it doesn't necessarily need to be specific to texturing 3d models, like for instance if I am trying to make a metal plate texture I will look for a tutorial to show me how to make the metal plates and I just adapt it to what I need, after a while looking at tutorials and such you will be able to make the texture without tutorials. Try this site.

I found this image of a 3D oil drum in Google. If you compare it with your texture/model you can see you still need to add to your texture.
Just keep practicing.

Or let's say that you practice making textures and eventually will be able to make that sort of texture?

Dont say that, when I first started I couldent make that texture eather, but practice practice practice and you will be able to, no one started being able to make textures like that, not me not Alucard or Irradic but they can make commerical quality models and textures now because they practiced. You could use a texture maker but that doesent make a perfect texture to your model it will make like a wood floor texture, you would still need to do something with it in photoshop a patch of wood does nothing for you, practice and you will be good someday.

The world is basically like a huge book with facts about everything in some ways, you could learn almost anything from the internet. And most of it is completely free! So take advantage of the internet and learn as much as you can. That's my only real advice to you.

What Jenqui said is very true, practice will get you there one day. Just don't expect too much at the moment, your work will gradually improve. But you will also have to get familiar with your tools.
Visit http://www.cgtextures.com, you will be able to find great bases for your textures there. http://www.3dtotal.com has some nice tutorials that should be able to help you and teach you some new tricks.

You know, to some extend you have to learn to solve problems by yourself. Sure you are beginner, and things sure are not easy, but we can not spoon feed you. There is the search button, and as mentioned many times already, Google is your best friend. Of course that doesn't mean you shoudln't ask in the forums at all. But not in 3,4,5...different threads.
Personally I some times spend hours on fixing issues, finding solutions. I rarely post and ask for help, in the time where some one replies I might have already found the solution. And if you solve them yourself, you might have a better idea what might be the problem if something should go wrong the next time.
Also try to elaborate your problems better, what did you do ,when did it happen.

So how should I know now if you are talking about the model inside the engine or in the modeler.
Don't be offended about what I said, in no means was it meant negatively. Just take it as advice.
Just take it slow, and learn gradually. At the moment it seems like you are having tons of problems and don't know what to do.
