first thoughts,
you seem to have a good understanding of the average user, along with a pretty good concept, by actually forcing the player to react with a emotional response then you can get the player to deluge further into the game,

I have a pretty good idea for the dark/light concept and after alot of scorunging around, these indies seem to have a sort of same idea, here the game is called
flipside,
but more or lees on the same scale with the creatures, mutating or 'flipping into the darker realms of the human mind, to show man in its ture twisted glory, allowing certain abillties or bonus' depending on the choices they make.
I would be happy to help with anything but for now am workin on my new AC, which will be my centre piece.
