I have finally textured my gun (took ages). My other 2 guns worked fine but I didn't know how to texture them. Maybe now I will go back to them...

This M16 has 2.5k polys, is that too much?

It looks quite ok, maybe the stock is a bit blocky. If it's for FPSC I belive it's quite alright, but could you post a wireframe shot too?

Best.

here it is. The texture I find is quite "gritty" and when I add bloom and the bump map to my fps (its using DarkGDK), I will probably find it would look less gritty. I am also going to try and model a Uzi or something after the M16 is animated, etc.

What lazerus said. You could easily clear up many polys. You've got it built in section, and the polygons that are on the ends on pieces and won't be seen can easily be deleted. Also, I don't think you need those polys along the clip. That could be bump mapped if you can do it. Also, you seem to have a bevel or something around the top edges of the gun that looks redundant. I think you can remove those. Other than that, I must say it's an excellent model! Keep up the great work

On the handguard you don't need 3 sections, just merge them together.
The same applies for the barrel, but in all, it's a nice model.

Best.

Pro-tip: tone down the scratche's, any opacity under 20 that's visible but hard to see(I guess.) will do greatly, but the rest of it is awsome! =)
