Well, we've seen before how competitions turn out if the rules are changed mid-way.

Perhaps after this one there will be another puzzle comp with less restrictiveness.

I don't want this competition to turn out poorly, so I wouldn't try to invoke a change in rules. I simply want to know what it is that's considered "okay" before I start redesigning my level to adhere to it.

Is blood allowed? I'm thinking of doing a gore room if I am clever enough on puzzles. If not, I'm still in if I have enough time.

I think I'm just going to make another puzzle game for the hell of it. I like making them and I guess people like playing them, once I'm done (If it's in time) then I'll have a friend or 2 rate it and I might enter it. I always need testers so if you wanna test it out just tell me. (It's not even close to being done yet so don't ask to test now )
This is a great idea for a contest and the prizes look fantastic. Great job mods, nice way to keep the fun going

Oh yeah!

Thats odd... maybe it was put that way because first prize gets more prizes overall, still to a higher cash value... but I think it should be switched.

WOnt it be better ,if the players would try to,, make something of their own, you know like use anything. And lets take the aspects such as, Storyline, SOunds, AI behavior, and the place where this is happening, the textures,,, painting..

The rules and judging methods are not up for debate, we've already been through this, fellas.

When a competition changes mid-swing, it has a pretty good chance of crashing and burning, so let's not let that happen to this one.

Are we allowed to add a short connecting hallway, but have it count as a room?

And are we allowed to use teleporters to move the player from one room to the next?

Although you said that we had to make all the content ourselves, I assume that we are allowed to use model packs?

On the forum. You must link it to the site in which it will download immediately, and not go through millions of buttons and pop-ups (the typical download site) e.g http://www.downloadsite.com/thebitwhereyoucopythefilelink.exe

It must be an .exe file or installer.

-EDIT- I don't think you can post your progress either...I wouldn't if I were you anyway.

I finished mine and i was wondering if i could put the game on my website and send a link in as the game. It would be a button that says play, you click it and the download begins. Would that be ok?

I might have to drop out. I'm trying to do 2 competitions (Jason Brook's Sci-Fi comp for X10), and I've just now found out hat I am rubbish at making puzzles. I will see how I do for now.

Nickydude:

I remember you saying that if you can't get the prizes to the winners by News Years, you will be banned.

Turns out, I won't be getting back home from vacation until the night of January 2nd, so I hope this goes well.

To explain, United (the horrible) rescheduled our flight, screwing up our schedule. Not happy.

Merry Christmas!

This was only to state that prize givers should be certain they can deliver the goods, with so many great prizes imagine how the winner would feel if he/she never got them.

Ermm, did I say 'by New Year'? There's a whole lot of judging to be done so don't sweat it about getting the prizes out A.S.A.P, as long as you can get the prizes out.

Quick question, if we have 5 main rooms, but they spread into different rooms is that against the rules?

@Codstre:

Yes. there are no hallways between rooms allowed. A room is a simple enclosing, and you may only have 5 of them total.

Thanks.

Looks like the dates will not be problem. Apart from some very minor addons to do, I have put something together. It's not hardcore puzzles, yet I am just going to enter it based on the fact I made the segs, skybox and map layout in about 4-5 hours. Not sure it will hold up though.

All the best with the comp.

I'd enter, but I have one question.

Are we not allowed to use performance enhancing mods either (S4mod, etc)? I can't stand using regular FPSC.

No, you cannot use Mods at all. I don't like regular FPSC, either, but you really can do a lot of things with it. The only thing that bugs me, is when I find a bug in the newer versions, I can't do anything about it.

Hmm, that's too bad. Doesn't seem like it's cheating or anything, just allowing people with lower-end computers to play.
