When I search ragdoll, I get the second link I gave you. I would try clicking that link. But that's just me.

ragdoll is like when you kill someone whene they flop around like a damp sock if there are no ragdolls your dead person/thing will die with its basic death animation and will become a static model but if you have ragdoll on if it dies in front of a hole it might fall through the hole and you can laugh while it spins through the air and eventually hit the ground. so basicilly ragdolls give the game an edge of realism

computer cookies are not tasty i found that out the hard way

I disagree with you there. A type of ragdoll as seen in Red Orchestra is more realistic; humans have bones, spines, and will not flop around when dying, just fall back/forward depending on were they're facing/leaning.

@AI:

Properly implemented ragdoll gives your game an edge of realism.

Poorly implemented ragdoll could potentially make the bones bend in ways that they normally wouldn't, which would defeat the realism trying to be derived.

Point being, it's better than simple death animations because then no two enemies will die in the same way... which is realistic.
