Hey everyone!
I've been using fpsc for more than two years now... and to be completely honest, I'm sick of the built-in death animation for enemies.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to make a body fall freely when the entity is dead, similar to the way bodies fall in games like Half-Life 2 and Halo 2 and 3.

Either that, or is there a way to make a custom animation without using an external software package? I really don't care if i'm writing it out line by line by line in notepad, I just want to be able to have characters and enemies in my games that die in a somewhat-realistic manner.

ALSO

I tried using Character Studio to animate my meshes and import them into fpsc. But when I do this, the mesh is scaled down SO MUCH that you can't even see it in the game.

Does anyone know why this is? Is there a way to fix it?

Not avaible in Fps Creator.

You need FPSC X10 for ragdoll effect, if you mean that.

well yeah that would be ideal
howsoever, i don\'t have an extra 60 bucks laying around anywhere
and i know it\'s POSSIBLE to attain this effect by, when an enemy dies, change it from a dynamic entity with AI to another dynamic entity with the ragdolling... you know how you can pick up a box or other object and throw it? i think it\'s possible to make bodies have physics after death just like that i just don\'t know how...

but ANYWHO

so that would be too hard
how can i make a custom animation?
character studio is crap
and i don\'t wanna buy any other program
is there a way to script it manually? like in notepad?

thanks for the help by the way

Currently, there are no ragdoll commands. Lee will be implementing ragdoll in the fpsc update. If you want ragdoll sooner than that you can ask Airslide or Plystire to implement it into one of their mods.

It might be best to make bloody and mangled bits of the enemy, then when it dies have a blood explosion and spawn all those pieces, then let them drop. I'd say that's possible with one of the mods out there. What surprises me is that HL1 has a better system for character deaths than fpsc, and that's over 10 years old.

this actually appeals to me as well
my game will have zombies in it eventually... so this effect might be useful in their death animation
how might one go about achieving this effect?

you know... what tgc might do to earn a few bucks and satisfy our animation needs is release a model pack with new animations
a dozen or so .fpi files with better and more realistic looking animations for our characters

either that or release an update that changes the available animations for existing characters (scifi/ww2 ++ model pack characters)

just a thought

hope it leaks down to admin

Plystire might, but i know Airslide wont, his mod only specialises in weapon modification, not overall engine features.

That would be completely unhelpful, as FPI scripts do nothing to model animations...

And it's up to the creators of the model packs to update them....

so nobody has any suggestions?
is it possible to modify the destroy/glass.fpi script so that it can apply to a zombie? then just make little bits and pieces?

ok maybe not glass
but i noticed that the ww2 wine bottle breaks appart into three pieces when you shoot it and i think it might be possible to apply this same effect to a zombie or other character
idears?
