It's pretty low-poly right now, but I intend to make it better. I'm trying to keep away from using the subsurf.

Any suggestions so far?

It's about half a meter long.

In the game, you'll never be close enough to see details, so it can remain low-poly. And there might be up to a hundred at a time, so I don't want it lagging too much. I might add something that could pass as a welding thing on one arm, and a "hand" on the other.

Looks good. You're not far enough along yet to really give any suggestions. Right now it's just a very simple model. I think it's too early to be asking people for critique, add more geometry and texture it. If someone only posts an untextured, unlit model the only thing to critique is the wireframe and shape. It's something we've never seen before so we can't really critique the shape, and the geometry is apparent from the image, and very simple, so we can't give suggestions for how to make it more optimized.

Okay. I made it longer, thinned it, and fixed some geometry issues (2 vertices were in the wrong spots.)

I also changed the arm end caps to triangles.

Good improvement!

One thing you changed that I think you shouldn't have was you made the model a bit longer. I liked the original one because it looked like a floating drone with arms, while the new one looks more like some kind of jet or something designed for speed. I'd try scaling it along this way (<---> and maybe widening the ends of the arms.

How's this?

I widened the whole thing, scaled its local-Z axis down (not as long), and made the ends of the arms thicker. I also moved them out from the center, so it looks less like a Cylon Raider and more like a clunky drone with function over fashion.

Should I keep the ends of the arms at that angle or should they stay flat?

How's the new "cockpit"? I think it fits in with the drone style more.

Looks much more drone-like! I think flat on the end of the arms looked better in the first shot better, but it's your call, of course.
